Dr. Felicia Tirico Callan, MD

Dr. Callan is the least compassionate doctor I have ever seen. She said the most out of pocket things to me while I was under her care. I have truly never felt more judged and less supported from a physician. Also, the previous comments about her inserting her religious beliefs are 100% true.

Please do not have Dr. Callan care for you when you are pregnant. I had a difficult pregnancy due to undiagnosed Celiac Disease. I complained my whole pregnancy of nausea, throwing up and other digestive problems and Dr. Callan just attributed it to extreme morning sickness or hyperemesis gravidarum. The thing is this diagnosis usually goes away after the first trimester. Mine lasted the whole pregnancy which is extremely rare. She never ordered any specific medical tests to properly diagnose my symptoms but just assumed I had this hyperemesis gravidarum. Celiac Disease is an autoimmune condition, and like all autoimmune conditions, they can start, get better, or much worse during pregnancy for reasons unknown. A year after my pregnancy I was diagnosed by my gastroenterologist with Celiac Disease and he told me that I most likely had it when I was pregnant due to the symptoms I had at that time. Two years after that my baby (who I was pregnant with under Dr. Callan's care) was… diagnosed with autism. There are many evidenced-based studies that link untreated autoimmune diseases in mothers with having children with autism. How does this happen? The antibodies produced from the autoimmune disease in the mother while pregnant cross the placenta and enter into the baby's body affecting organ growth, including the brain, in the baby. If Dr. Callan had taken my symptoms more seriously and not just assumed it was a bad case of morning sickness (again morning sickness rarely lasts past the first trimester and mine was the whole pregnancy) this wouldn’t have happened. During my whole pregnancy all she said to do was just drink plenty of fluids, eat slowly and lightly and get rest. If she had taken the time and interest in my baby and my health to properly research the symptoms I had, she would have seen that many of them were digestive related despite the pregnancy (due to them lasting the whole pregnancy). All she needed to do was order a simple blood test that would have revealed the deficiency of vitamins in my body at that time which would have signaled a medical professional to test for TTG (Celiac antibodies) antibodies in my system that would have led to the accurate diagnosis of Celiac Disease. This would have allowed for the treatment I should have had which was a strict gluten free diet thereby stopping my body from producing the antibodies that affected my child's brain and caused a developmental delay and later the diagnosis of autism. Again, please to not have this woman care for you if you are pregnant. She doesn't take the time, effort or care that a doctor should when treating patients, especially ones who are pregnant.

Have been with her since she arrived in Huntington. She has left Mt. Sinai Doctors and is now with Northwell. All my experiences have been professional and positive. She always knows who I am and I will definitely continue to see her in her new group.

Dr Callan delivered both of my children and I can not say enough good things about her. She's extremely smart, thorough and comforting in a field that is anything but. I truly feel lucky to have found her and would never see anyone else!

I saw Dr Callan through the course of my pregnancy. I am extremely disappointed with the level of care in which she gave me. Not only did she make diagnosis that she never discussed with me, she never discussed a birth plan with me, she walked out of my delivery room as i was laboring, she frequently needs to be reminded of past things she mentions to you. She makes you wait for long periods of time and will breeze through the exam, and lastly she has mismanged my care. I would strongly advise seeing another doctor and medical group

I have been seeing Dr Callan for at least 20 years. She is a wonderful doctor, easy to talk to , and the best bed side manner.

Very caring and knowledgeable.I relied on Dr. Callan for care and advice through two successful pregnancies, a series difficult miscarriages & infertility issues. I have always been confident that she has given me great advice and referrals when necessary. Would recommend this doctor.

Dr. Callan is an exceptional physician, she is caring, and driven on treating a patient. I am in the healthcare field, and perhaps moreso than others can appreciate her thoroughness, and professionalism. A+

DR. CALLAN'S KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE: When I went in for my appt Dr. Callan informed me that I would miscarry at 5 wks because my baby had stopped "growing". I then took an in office test to read my hormonal levels. She informed me that she would call me with the results in a few days. In the meantime, I didn't miscarry. No spotting or anything. I finally got the call. Dr. Callan said to me over the phone that my hormonal levels were at 50, and this is why I would definitely miscarry. I then went to see her a wk later. This is when she informed me that she made a mistake and that my hormonal levels were at 3780, not 50 and that my baby was perfectly healthy. If she can't read a simple number off of a sheet of paper, what qualifies her to deliver a baby? She should have been more thorough when analyzing her patients data, especially in a case like this where it seemed strange that my healthy baby had "stopped" growing. Please go elsewhere for efficient, and knowledgeable health care.
