Dr. Fernando L Delasotta, MD

I call him my miracle dr. I had a herniated disc in C6 it was the most painful experience I’ve ever had. He got me into surgery within days of seeing him and I was pain free as soon as I came out of surgery. I have nothing but good things to say about him.

Staff is ok, but I have been to better offices. Dr barely spoke to me and automatically send me for myelogram/ct scan. Never provided any information about his thoughts, and his Nurse (not himself) evaluated me for everything and looked at my MRIs/X-rays, not the doctor himself. Who is the licensed one here getting big bucks from insurance claims???

I'm from Florida. Visiting my daughter in EHT. Fell and hit back of head on granite counter top. Taken to AlantiCare Trauma Center and met doctor. In follow up at his office the entire staff was excellent, caring and very professional. One of the nicest Doctor and staff I've ever seen. Renee, at front desk went the extra mile to help schedule a follow up CTscan at Shore Memorial in spite of Medicare probems.

Dr Delasotta is in my opinion a very skilled surgeon. I will agree his bed side manner could be improved but he listened to me throughout my visits. I went to a number of different doctors from NY to Pa for other opinions. I choose Dr Delasotta because of his thoroughness and telling me I will need the surgery and he recommended sooner than later. Other doctors were wanting me to schedule the procedure in their office. I did not feel the pressure with him as I did with other surgeons. After the surgery I feel he gave me a very accurate recovery timeline (which was within a week of each step). I had another injury 6 years later and had no other Doctor in mind to see. He at that time wrote a script for an image bank. When I did my next visit he showed me the images and requested a Myelogram which did show my injury much clearer than the standard image series. He made recommendations which ultimately I will need surgery (when my quality of life is bad enough) but the insurance company… sent me to another Dr which wanted surgery right away. I work in the medical field (Not neurology or orthopedics) and appreciate noninvasive procedures first and a conservative approach. This Dr has my total confidence and trust. His front office staff has been not the greatest, and can be improved. His main Nurse is wonderful and does get the information ready for him so there is a great flow in the patient treatment room. Scheduling is a bit tough, but he is in demand so it is understandable. His office has always been clean and set up with his monkeys with a calming feel. Bottom line is there could be some improvement but the end results are great.

He has dogs in the office. Gross.

He insisted that I get a myelogram when I already had an MRI. Now I have worse nerve pain from the myelogram.

When your in pain and have fear due to your injury, you would expect the front line, (office staff), to be at least somewhat compassionate and polite. My experience making my first appointment made me think about even going to this Dr. Rude on the phone, rude at the appointment window, I was made to feel like I was bothering them. I was seen by a nurse who spent the most time with me. I was there for a second opinion . I have an injury and wanted to discuss a conservative option with this Dr. The Dr. entered the room and the first words out of his mouth were just plan rude. He took a look at my MRI and wanted me to have a myelagram. I explained that I had done some research on the myelagram and choose not to have one. He told me that my research was wrong. I have a shoulder injury also, so when he was examining me, I jumped because it hurt my shoulder. He treated me like I was faking. I left feeling very disappointed.

The entire thing was a train wreck. I wanted to try nonoperative treatment. He insisted for some reason that I get a myelogram. I guess it's an old school test from the 1970s. I should have known because newer doctors just read MRIs. Then he told me I would be paralyzed without a surgery. Now I'm in chronic pain and I am worse than before I started. He does not explain anything and he's really very condescending. I am going to get a second opinion. I think that he was very good a few decades ago but it has been a terrible experience now...

He never talked to me. His nurse did all of the questions and the entire interview. Then he tried to make me sign up for a complex surgery and when I asked more questions he told me to leave. I deserve to be be treated more respectfully than that.

I heard that Dr. Delasotta has been in practice for a while. I would expect his office to be more efficient and his bedside manner to be more polished. I had surgery with him and now I have more pain than when I started. I don't understand why surgery took twice as long as he said it would. He did not start my surgery until 6pm on a Friday in Atlantic City.
