Dr. Francisco Javier Cota, MD

He doesn't treat what he claims he treats! I was with him for 5 years and I didn't feel better till I changed doctors. Cota is very evasive and won't ever tell you what it is he is treating you for. He talks down to you and that turned me off.

If you need real help, DO NOT see Dr. Cota! I was referred to him by my PCP. He first sits you down to ask you questions to determine whether he will 'accept' you. The fact that I have suffered abuse right away disqualified me from his services. I was very upset when he shot me down so coldly. He then immediately shooed me out and wouldn't give me time to gather myself. I waited MONTHS for a chance at getting real help from a real psychiatrist, just to be treated like an inconvenience. Like I said, if you need actual help, don't even bother with this cold hearted doctor. They should determine whether they will 'accept' you over the phone before you put your hopes into an appointment you have to wait months for. Oh wait, that would be too nice of them to do! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

I was offended that he would review me, a 36 year old combat veteran to a child and adolescent psychiatrist. He did so by explaining that he doesn't specialize in my issues; though his websites specifically do. I was courteous and honest, all I wanted was the same.

I've been seeing Dr. Cota off and on for the past 20 years after a brain injury when I've had insurance. Dr. cota was recommended by my neurologist and he's turned out to be a good psychiatrist. I'll admit that he is direct and the office visits for me are about 5-10 minutes. However, when I have issue's, questions or trouble with medication, he been more than willing to work with me and find what works.

Never spent more than 15 minutes with me. Horrible Dr!

Saw him for years, he never diagnosed me. I thought I was going crazy. I had crying spells. I had numerous nervous breakdowns. Never diagnosed. He was so uncaring. I was touching his paper clips out of ocd and he got mad and said he'd ask me to leave. He carries himself better than his patients. Hes getting paid by us. We pay him! Dont see him!!!

Please do no see this Dr. He doesn't understand that anxiety is a disorder and a mental illness that needs treatment with medication just like diabetes or hypertension. I have anxiety and panic attacks and he told me I just had phobias and recommended taking me off all my medications (which have been life saving) and teaching me relaxation techniques. He needs to go back to school. Go see someone else.

The only time I saw him he accused me of taking diet drug which were making me crazy? Do not go to him. He is the one of the most uncompassionate persons I've ever run across. I left in tears after 5 minutes.

I told him that my medication was giving me horrible side effects and instead of changing, he increased dose. I tried expalinng the next times but barley saw me (no longer than 5-10min). Side effects were awful but he told me it was me. I do not recommend him at all. He never really took the time to listen. Went to see another MD and he changed my diagnosis and meds and I am doing much better.

It was my first help to understand my symptoms, I was later diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and depression. I told Dr. Cota what was going on in my first session with him. He told me "Sounds like you're stuck" which made feel like I had no hope. I went home more depressed than ever and attempted suicide. He meet me at the hospital and was completely rude to me and threatened to have me hospitalized. When I was being released he told me to go see someone else MHMR. I found a counselor and I ended up at MHMR & never was treated the way Dr. Cota treated me. When I told my counselor she said "Yup sounds just like Dr. Cota" I don't recommend Dr. Cota !!!!
