Dr. Gabriel Abella, MD

I’ve seen Dr. Abella several times & would highly recommend him. I’ve had epidural injections & they’ve always helped. If you’re looking for warm & fuzzy & someone to hold your hand he may not be for you. But if you like a straight shooter & someone to tell you exactly how it is, then by all means, he’s the one

I went to see Dr. Abella for severe pain in my back neck and shoulders. He dismissed my pain and told me to take Tylenol and not to walk. I am a senior citizen, otherwise healthy, and looked to him for a solution. The best he could tell me was don’t walk and buy a walker. He talks over you and does not care about your well-being whatsoever. He actually made me cry

Dr. Abella is the best. He took his time; listened and really helped me. I recommend Dr. Abellla highly.

This doctor is the least caring doctor I have ever encountered. He acts like the patient is a nuisance and appears bored. He has no tolerance for hearing that someone is in pain, and zero bedside manner. If you are lucky enough to get past Dr. Abella," the great cortisone injector," to one of the real physicians in this group, you will have much better care.

It began as a poor experience when the receptionist kept asking me why I was being referred to see Dr. Abella when I had been to see the ortho surgeon at the office a few weeks earlier. I kept explaining that my pain management doctor wanted me to see a physical medicine rehab doctor and Dr. Abella is a PM&R and the ortho surgeon is not. I finally said that if their office does not allow a patient to see more than one doctor in their practice that I would go elsewhere and she quickly said that was not necessary that she would give me the appointment, but added that she just doesn't understand why. My mother brought me to my appointment and came in exam room with me. I was there for low back and sacral pain with intermittent shock-like pain and burning down my leg with some numbness in foot and toes which has really limited my mobility. He kept his back to me for most of the time he was in the room and said several times that he didn't understand why pain management wanted him to see… me. I felt like I was bothering him being there. He never examined my back. He never lifted my shirt to even look at it and never touched it. He did no neurosensory testing, no strength testing and no testing of reflexes. He told me to get up on table and did not offer to help me although I was struggling. He checked straight leg raise and Faber's test and then told me to sit up ( which is painful for me) and he turned his back to me and just started to look at paperwork again for several minutes. I finally asked if I could stand up and he said "Do whatever you want." My mother came to help me off table and he never even glanced over to see if he should help. I've had a chronic incurable autoimmune disease for 25 years and I have seen many doctors and Dr. Abella is without a doubt the worst. I will never return to this practice again to see any of them. Worst experience ever, NO COMPASSION. I cried all the way home. Waste of time and money!
