Dr. Garrett Kenneth Gotway, MD, PhD

I have never experienced a doctor like this. He was rude, insensitive, impatient, uncompassionate, & unapproachable! He was rude from the time he walked through the door. Most doctors acknowledge “who” they are speaking to when they enter. He did NOT do that, nor did he care after we pointed it out to him. He was blatantly rude & insensitive. He made us feel as though we were wasting HIS time! When he explained things, he explained things as if he was presenting at a medical conference! Although I have a PhD as well, I was thinking, “Is this really how he talks to the parents of 1st time patients?!” & He had the audacity to ask why did my son wear a medical alert necklace? I was highly insulted! Given that he had my son’s medical records literally in front of him! This is a child who is NONVERBAL & has an extensive medical history due to his brain injury! We were highly insulted at this doctor’s behavior to the parents of a Special Needs Child! How is he even working at a Children’s… Hospital? I would never recommend him to anyone.

I had seen Gotway once as a referral from my pediatrician and never will see him again. I was looking for a diagnosis on the basis of my pediatrician. He completely ignored all her remarks and mine. Refused to diagnose since I had not me all “criteria” despite two doctors saying other wise. In HIS EXACT words he will not diagnose me because there is no cure nor treatment and it won’t do me any good. Since then I’ve had ANOTHER doctor confirm the findings of my pediatrician. He refused to listen to any of my concerns and treated me as if I was a hypochondriac and that all of my symptoms are in my head.
