Dr. Gary Lee Child, DO

The only way to contact them is to show up in person. When I did this I was told I was lying and asked to leave. They billed my insurance and then just ignored me. Best case they're just a waste of time, but I'm afraid about what they plan to do with my personal information

I was a patient for over 4 years, I adored Dr. Childs, he was always so caring to me, and knew my name, and injury just by my face! But one day out of the blue I recieve a certified letter from UPRI stating they dropped me as a patient becuz I missed a pill count! I called the office right away, and was treated very rudly, and explained I just recieved a letter that I would be more than happy to come for a pill count at any time, she (the nurse) replied with "u don't get to decide when I get a pill count u have an hour from when we talk to u". I explained I hadn't talked to anyone I kno about a pill count due to the letter. The gal said they called me and left a msg, a week prior! I explained I don't have voicemail so how did they leave a msg, she pulled up my name and said oh no we didn't leave a msg we just called! Long story short I was left high and dry, and was not given the opportunity to even speak w/Dr. Childs, or anyone else for that matter! The rude nurse got to decide how I… was handled, and as rude as she was I even pleaded w/her to transfer me above her when she rudly hung up on me!!!

For most of my life, I thought I was as healthy as most anyone else. After an accident, I has spent a significant amount of time with lots of doctors lots of times. Not very impressed with the whole lot of them on the most part but generally they took care of my issues. Because of serious damage from arthritis in my later years I have been cursed with the need for pain medication and many surgeries. Dr. Child provided me with a chronic pain medication and exercise program to provide some relief from the pain and discomfort that is significantly responsive to changing weather conditions as well as physical movement and/or non-movement, particularly while sitting, walking, "trying to sleep", and other positions that used to be friendly. In regards to Dr. Child's help and treatment as it related to managing my chronic and other pain symptoms and conditions, he spent as little time as possible, tried to remember my name, and generally seemed to wish that he too was retired. That would have… been fine as it was but his general disrespectful and what I felt was demeaning for him to have to treat me and people like me because if we were using pain pills then we must be bad awful people and so we were also; sewer drinking, gutter eating, dirty clothes wearing, dirty smelling drug addicts. The worst of it was that as he obviously didn't have to answer to anyone else, his open and visible to all treatment of his patients translated into very disrespectful staff of mainly immature, young women that were more concerned about their hair and how macho they were, and how fast can I get this drug addict patient out of my face and while I'm at it, how can I train him like a dog into when to speak, never touch their cell phone, sitting straight, and hands folded in their lap and get them out of here without them touching anything, as fast as I can. You can think I'm a little carried away in my above description but you would be surprised how accurate I am.

I was hugely disappointed, Dr.Child treated me like just here is the medicine now leave. I did not feel he was aware of what was really going on, just script writing.

He is a very caring physician. He understands how to be a good Doctor. I would give his name out to other people who needed a doctor in his field of practice.
