Dr. Gavin Mark Jonas, MD

I grew up in a small seaside village called Muizenberg, Cape Town, South Africa. I have a bachelor degree and medical degree from the University of Cape Town. I completed an Internship at the Groote Schuur Hospital, known for the world's first heart transplant. My wife and I immigrated to the United States in 1984 to pursue our American dream. It was during my specialty training at the University of Irvine that I became familiar with Kaiser Permanente. I joined in 1990. I live with my family in Irvine. I am the proud dad of three children, an older daughter, and son and daughter twins, born at Kaiser Permanente. My delight is a talkative African Gray parrot; my family finds our two dogs less troublesome. I enjoy music and art. I play some guitar and am somewhat creative with a paint brush and a canvas.
