Dr. Gaylord S Rose, MD

I recently had my 1st surgery (a Modified Radical Hysterectomy) and was extremely nervous. Dr. Rose was compassionate, confident and informative on what he felt was the best procedure for me, while still allowing me to choose what I was comfortable with. He is quick and thorough, a true master at his craft. He has a wonderful bedside manner, which was just what I needed after such a big surgery. And although I never saw his face (because of Covid!) I felt at peace and knew I was in the best hands. I highly recommend him. Thank you, Dr Rose!

Dr. Rose is an excellent doctor. My mom had a massive mass in her abdominal area. Her cancer was a carcinosarcoma, which is very aggressive. She is 82 years old. Dr. Rose was very clear on explaining the details on the cancer. He did not push or tell her what to do. He layed out the options. She chose to do surgery. He visited her every morning for the entire time she was in the hospital. He removed the entire mass. He saved her life. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Rose.

I am both a patient and a colleague I have seen him in the OR and have never seen anyone with a better skill set. He is very serious and takes what he does with the greatest of care. As a result he sometimes may seen a little overwhelming but there is no one else I would let operate on me

I went to see Dr. Rose on a consult from my gyn because she had difficulty seeing my cervix during a colposcopy. The first thing he says before even introducing himself is "I can tell you this isn't going to happen." Granted I am overweight but I can walk and talk and take care of myself (under 300 lbs). He treated me like a monster. I began to cry at which he offered his "medical overweight clinic" to which I replied no; had he read my chart he would have seen I was from out of town. After his initial comment and shame when he began the procedure obviously I was too tense and ashamed. He suggested it be done surgically in Fairfax. At this point I was just in tears; his response was even skinny people can have this problem. I did not go to this arrogant doctor to be told I was fat. I went with the fear that I have cancer. I could understand him explaining a medical reason for not being able to do the procedure but to make someone feel so ashamed when already stressed was totally… uncalled for. My whole thought was to get out of there. We ended with my coming back in 6 months to see if my pap was normal. I will be canceling that appointment.

I was diagnosed with a massive ovarian tumor (about size of cantaloupe). Being in my early 20's I was worried about future fertility. Dr. Rose spoke to me as a real adult ( which many doctors do not, such as the ob-gyn who brushed off my symptoms thus allowing the tumor to grow). He addressed all my concerns and throughly explained the surgery. He was able to keep more of the reproductive organs then was typical for this surgery. Although he can come across as intimidating, having a tough capable surgeon was exactly the right choice. He was very friendly and respectful as well.

Explained everything upfront! Compassionate! Caring! I have real confidence in Dr. Rose. Highly recommend him!

This doctor is very knowledgeable, however he is arrogant and not very good at listening. I never felt he connected with my concerns or how I felt about my procedure. His number one statement is "you are in good hands". After my procedure at the hospital, he never visited me for a follow-up or had any of his staff explain to me the complications he found. It was well after 3 three weeks when I went in for my follow up that I found out all my complications. I was referred to this doctor by someone who really raved and actually had the procedure done. I personally was not impressed. I am just glad it is behind me.

I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Rose. He is a leader in the field of GYN oncology and robotic surgery; people from all over the US come specifically to see him. In addition to world class technical skill, he is very caring. He answered all of my questions & was a very reassuring presence for me & my family. During my hospital stay, the nurses said how lucky I was to have Dr Rose & spoke highly of him. I know I could handle any serious illness under his care.

Dr Rose was great. He just performed a laparotimy to remove a very large ovarian cyst. He made sure I knew exactly what was going to happen, what my options were, and the outcomes I could expect. I became upset with nerves on the operating table right before surgery and he held my hand and calmed me down. He is very easy to trust because you can tell he has very solid experience. I thought he was a great surgeon and an excellent caregiver.

Great doctor. Straight forward and honest.
