Some poisonings, e.g. zinc phosphide, would/could also be included as well as under 989.4 Poisoning due to other pesticides, etc. Excluded are toxic effects of mercury, arsenic, manganese, beryllium, antimony, cadmium, and chromium.

He doesnt employ office staff. Patients must speak directly to HIM on the phone to make an appointment. Yet when you call, a machine always picks up. His "solution" to patient issues is to prescribe more and more medications. He charges insurance hundreds of dollars for appointments that last under 15 minutes. He even charged my insurance company for several appointments that I had canceled more than a week in advance. That's insurance fraud! He told my insurance company he'd pay them back and that he'd "forgotten" that I had canceled and rescheduled the appointments. He couldn't "remember" when I was there. That happened THREE times!

Dr. Maran charges an exorbitant amount of money for the 10-minute appts he spends with patients. He doesn't keep good patient files. He never remembers what meds he's prescribed. He has no idea what patients' issues or symptoms are because he doesn't read through the file prior to appts - or ever, it seems. Once, after he suggested I just take MORE doses of medication XYZ, I asked him if doing so would conflict with medication ABC (prescribed by another doc). He looked puzzled. "Medication ABC?" he asked, flipping feverishly through my medical file. Obviously, he had no recollection of me taking med ABC, even though I told him months earlier and on several occasions. "Medication ABC?" he asked again, still looking through my file. Then he asked, "Do I prescribe that?" Really? Wow.

After months of seeing him he still knows nothing about me. He doesn't pay attention and just wants to push a prescription on you and get you out the door.

Dr. Maran is very caring and has a great sense of humor. He is able to put things in a realistic perspective and tries to help the patient understand that he is no better than them, but rather works with the patient to help them understand their condition. He is very easy to talk with, so I would highly recommend him. He always calls back, and there is never a wait. You are also personally seen by him and not handed off to a pschologist.
