Dr. Goran Rakocevic, MD

Since moving to the area, I’ve been with Dr. Rakocevic over 2 years. He is the kindest, most compassionate Neuro I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. He’s my 4th Neuro treating me for a Neuromuscular disease and I’ll never give him up. He stays on top of new clinical studies, is an extremely effective communicator and I trust him with my treatment plan. He’s accessible to his patients and I can sense he genuinely loves helping patients and medical students. He is truly a Gem.

I visited with Dr. Rakocevic for the first time last week. I will admit, like others, that getting an appointment can be a little time consuming and confusing but his staff is very peasant and courteous. His assistant Kate is very courteous and responsive, his NP Judy is very thorough and professional and Dr. Rakocevic himself is an amazing man. He spent hours with me. He listened, he explained, he tried to help me physically and emotionally. Beside being what I consider to be a great doctor, I really like him as a person. He is extremely sincere and I wish all my doctors where like him. I recommend him highly.

Dr. Rakocevic is one of the nicer people I have ever seen. At a time that I felt a piano had fallen from the sky, his easy way of talking and his confidence and knowledge makes the scary so much less so. 2 years after my first episodes, I felt as if I were starting regress. I went to see him about this.. He explained carefully to me what could be happening and allowed me to relax and go forward. I have recommended him to several people. Actually, he is so nice, that you almost look forward to go to the doctor

i think the staff can be difficult to deal with but this is a rating of the physician. based on his credentials this physician is extremely humble,kind, and generous with his time. the two previous reviewers complained about promptness and then gave good rating for spends time with me. He will stay late on days that hes obviously busy just so every patient feels like they got every question answered. Its unrealistic to assume a diagnosis will be made in one visit. I have a rare condition for which many specialists misdiagnosed and kept pushing me away. Dr Rakocevic got to the bottom even paying with his own research fund to get an expenise genetic test done for me. i think hes one of the best doctors ive ever been to.

I have known Dr. Rakocevic for about 10 years and throughout that time he has confirmed a rare neurological diagnosis that I have. I travel several hours to see him for follow-up care. He is knowledgeable of updates on my diagnosis and empathetic and will take the time to answer questions that I have.

Rakocevic's staff will not schedule any appointment unless you send the medical records first. As demanded by Rakocevic's office staff, my general practioner's staff faxed my medical records to his office. On the first follow-up phone call I made the next day, the office staff informed they would contact me after Rakocevic reviewed my records. A week later, I made a 2nd follow up phone call. The office staff informed me the fax did not come through and wanted me to again have my general practioner's staff fax it. I told the office staff I was not willing to waste my time and the general practioner's time again in the hopes that maybe this time Rakocevic's staff would not lose it. I have endured Bell's palsy for 8 months. That fact alone should have been sufficient to schedule an appointment. I'm going elsewhere to find a real doctor who actually has an interest in seeing patients.

I was referred to this physician by another neurology specialist. After waiting almost a half hour in the examination room, the doctor arrived. He seemed to be at a complete loss as to the cause of my problems and offered no course of treatment other than exercise. He is a very nice person and in his defense it could be that perhaps I was refered to him to exclude conditions but that wasn't discussed. I came away very disappointed with no diagnosis offered.
