Dr. Grace Ingan Chen, MD

Dr. Chen has been my and my husband's doctor for approx. 7 years and we are so very satisfied with her care. She has always been compassionate and always very responsive. She listens and remembers and treats our concerns seriously. We think she is the best!

My mother was in the Hospital, The Dr. was rude and abrupt. Did not want to listen to what I had to say. In a hurry to throw my mother out of the hospital.

Unethical and Incapable

She is unethical and incompetent

Initially I accompanied my parent to see Dr. Chen as a new patient. She performed an initial head to toe physical assessment. And having a healthcare background myself, I find her assessment skills to be mediocre. She was not very thorough in her assessment of the different systems of the body, especially for a patient who has a history of pre-diabetes and cardiac issues. Also Dr. Chen likes to order blood work on the day of the visit, whether it is an initial or follow up visit. With my parent's blood work, she did not order HBA1C or Cholestrol panel. One would think you would order this for someone who has pre-diabetes and cardiac issues. In addition, how do you explain/discuss labs with a patient days after their initial or follow up visit? How can you effectively diagnose a patient without all possible objective information? When Dr. Chen was asked about why labs can't be ordered in advance? Her response is "less is more."

Dr. Chen is my new Primary Care Physician. She was recommended to me by someone who had worked with her and was also a doctor. I see some negative comments about Dr. Chen. Keep in mind that during a visit to UCLA these days.. doctors must listen, and type into the computer system what they are hearing from you at the same time, while also checking your previous and ongoing health concerns. Unless they have eyes in the back or side of their heads... you are not going to get as much eye contact as once possible. I found Dr. Chen knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend her. (Look at her resume... she is a very busy doctor.)

Rude, condescending, unhelpful and unconcerned. Absolutely the worst doctor I have ever seen, anywhere. Since these are my personal opinions, she cannot prevail in a lawsuit against me for liable per se.

I saw her as same day appointment and she was very rude and acted as if my being there was an imposition. She should re evaluate her reason for being a doctor or do all md from Rochester med school act the same.

The worst physician at UCLA. My neurologist advised me to see a physician in geriatric medicine. Unfortunately, I didn't ask her for a referal. I, myself a medical doctor, chose Dr. Grace I Chen on-line. I was waiting in her office when she came in. She was extremely rude and did not spend more than a few minutes in the room with me. This is what she told me, I quote her now; "Why are you here? you have seen cardiologist and neurologist. What do you want me to tell you? I don't have anything to tell you. You are 80 years old and your ailments are because of your age." Then she left the office. She didn't ask me what my complaints/concerns are. She didn't examine me. She didn't give me any advice, neither verbal nor written. This is absolutely unacceptable from a doctor. She is racist and very unprofessional. Now she is charging Medicare $649 for a consultation of 2 to 3 min. Shame on you Dr. Grace Chen. I am ashamed to say that you are in my field, a medical doctor.
