I first consulted Dr. Bales several years ago. I had developed a cyctocele (dropped bladder) and was using a pessary. The pessary was functioning fairly well, and I was there just to inquire about surgical cystocele repair if indicated. Dr. Bales examined me and said since my pessary was working well, I should wait for surgery. He said I might need surgery in the future but not yet. I very much appreciated that he did not pressure me for a surgical route. I prefer a conservative approach when possible. Eventually I started having problems with the pessary—urinary tract infections, bladder coming down more, pain with pessary in or out, decreased ability to walk around without pain. Dr. Bales found that the bladder hernia had increased. He discussed possible treatment with physical therapy which I did not want. He then thoroughly discussed the possible procedures for a cystocele repair including all risks involved. I opted for the vaginal route which is simpler and has less recovery post op. Dr. Bales performed the procedure as an outpatient. I was amazed to have no significant pain after the procedure. I am now several months post op. I no longer have problems with the cyctocele. I realize that my muscles that support the bladder are not strong so I am very careful with lifting to prevent reoccurrence as much as possible. At this point, I feel great, and I am so happy with the surgical result. My quality of life has improved incredibly allowing me to walk and be active without pain. I am 70 years old, and I did not expect to be made young again. Yet I feel much younger without the discomfort I had been experiencing. I am completely satisfied with the surgical result. When and if I need more professional treatment by Dr. Bales, I will not hesitate to schedule another visit.

On my post-surgical appointment, he didn't even talk to me. He hid in a corner of the (large) room while his then female assistant told me one lie after another. That was the most insulting thing I've ever seen from a so-called physician. Hopefully he has more respect for his patients these days.

It has been 2 weeks since my surgery and am pleased with my recovery. I have been happy with how Dr. Bales has handled my situation and have already recommend him to others.

Dr Bales helped me with a problem that 4 other urologists in NW Indiana didn't. He listens..he tells you his plan..then he fixes! Nothing but praise and admiration for Dr Bales.

I've had many different health issues over the years, so I've seen dozens upon dozens of different doctors in my lifetime. This guy is far and away the biggest liar I've ever dealt with. He seems to be friendly and caring of his patients, but I guess that's how the con game is played. After what this man did to me, I don't think I'll ever be able to trust another doctor again. BTW, he didn't diagnose a thing on me. Another physician diagnosed my problem and referred me to this guy for corrective surgery (which he botched). Therefore, my rating under "Accurate Diagnosis" should be N/A.

The surgery he did failed completely. Not only that, but he also screwed around with my bladder (which he wasn't supposed to do), and I have more problems now than I did before the surgery. I regret ever meeting this doctor.

Dr. Bales took my case last fall and performed a very difficult surgery. It was an unusual case and he made me feel at all times that he could fix my problem and heal me. He listened to me and made me feel comfortable. He performed the surgery and I was very impressed with my care in his office, at the hospital, and my follow-up care. Even months later, he has continued to check on my progress and recovery even though I live out of state. He kept his word- I am healed and living a normal life again because of him and his skills as a surgeon.

My experience with Dr. Greg Bales has been nothing but wonderful!! He did a very complicated surgery on me several years ago, and I woke up to him sitting at my bedside...he took his time with all my follow up appointments, explaining everything in complete thoroughness. My surgery was not an easy task, nor am I an easy patient (physically), but he never made me feel I was a bother no matter how often I contacted him with worry or questions! I would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone...he came very highly recommended to me by a very prestigious Dr from Northwestern Memorial Hospital. When I told him of the kind of surgery I was gonna need, he didn't even hesitate in saying Dr. Greg Bales at University of Chicago!!

waited more than an hour and finally left. if he can`t manage his practice better than this, I sure don`t want him operating on me.

He is a miserable urologists has no concept for patients care. He botched up my simple surgery. Watch this guy. Do not go and see him.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Bales as he was willing to take on complicated cases, such as mine. He is extremely personable and I would recommend him to many others. He always took the time explain what he was doing and why. EXCELLENT doctor!!

Consultation was 20min.long and it was the only time I seen & talk to dr.bales.my appt.was at 9.45am but I didnt get to see him until 11:30am,waiting time is very long.And when it was time for my surgery I didnt even get to see him,im not even sure if he performed my sugery cause he wasnt even there to greet me after or see how I was doing.
