We loved Dr. Tuten! He walked us through a tough situation and helped to perfectly remedy another surgeon's error.

Seriously hands down the absolute best Doctor.

I wish I had the option of not marking a star at all. I am very disappointed with Dr. Tuten. My 4 year old daughter was referred to him for a sudden limp in her right foot. She had imaging done, which Tuten apparently told his nurse was clear. He didn't call himself to go over the results nor did he have us come in for a follow up visit. He just had his lovely nurse, Ashley, to relay messages. She was awesome, but she's not a doctor. Of course we had questions because we were left clueless as to why our daughter's been limping for several weeks and he tells us nothing's wrong from an orthopedic stance. We were sent back to the pediatrician for further work up and from that point we had to put our daughter through so much with labs, various specialists (endocrinology, hematology/ oncology), and un-necessary stress/ worry prior to her starting Pre-K because we were grasping at straws as to why she's limping. She was even worked up for childhood malignancy. Do you know how frightening… that is thinking your child may have cancer? We ended up having to get a thorough 2nd opinion from a fabulous orthopedic physician at VCU, who was able to physically show us our daughter's x-rays and diagnose her with "Kohler's disease". Why Tuten didn't see this is beyond me, but it's extremely frustrating. All that my 4-year old went through because he didn't take the time to properly view her imaging. She's already been through enough having open heart surgery shortly after birth. How would you feel watching your child being poked several times while screaming? How would you feel if you thought your child had cancer? All because you didn't take the time to look at an XRAY. I would recommend VCU over Dr. Tuten any day. He saw my osn was in severe pain and did not prolong the visit. He wrap him up, wrote his Rx and had us schedule our follow up. Follow ups were quick and easy. Hopefully we will not ever need his services again, however, if we do we will return to him!

During a football game, my son broke his elbow. While this happens, it was the first "break" for our son and our family. From the beginning, Dr. Tuten eased my fears with his calm and kind demeanor. He recognized the importance of the outcome of my son's surgery, even though he has done this many times before.

My daughter has hemyhypertrophy and her previous orthopedist for 7 years was just making x-rays without any projection. Dr. Tuten immediately knew what to do and told me the right time for my daughter to have the surgery. She had it a month ago and she is in the process of recuperation. Thank you Dr. Tuten we know we are in good hands.
