Dr. Haroutioun S Shahinian, MD

My PCP recommended Dr. Shahinian because I suffer from anemia. 1st time blood was drawn the doctor said "you have anemia". I said, I know that is why I am here. 2nd time blood was drawn. I show up for the results and I was told they lost my blood. That is scary!! 3rd time blood is drawn doctor said "can not tell what is going on. I need a bone marrow biopsy but not to worry as it doesn't hurt" I had it done and it is painful!! I began to have excruciating pain 4 months later!!! when I went for my results the doctor said, "there is nothing I can do for you because your anemia is not very serious". The doctor recommended absolutely nothing, not even vitamins. I ended up having to see a Pain Management Doctor for the continues excruciating pain from the Bone Marrow Biopsy for the next 6 months till the pain was controlled. And at times the pain comes and goes. I kept getting calls to go in and have blood drawn to run tests. Why!! So I can pay for the doctor's Mercedes??? And so I can… be his guinea pig.??? No thank you, As the saying goes..."Fool me once shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." Lost faith in this doctor!!!

Dr. S was not overly thrilled that I didn't want to do the usual cancer route of chemo and radiation after my lumpectomy, but he was kind in my decision. Now, almost a year later, I am cancer free and will continue to see him because I know, no matter what, he cares about my health. He's a good man and will listen to your concerns.

The doctor is knowledgeable and explains diagnosis and treatment is layman terms. The only problem I've had is with the office staff. My calls are not returned and they did not process my paperwork with another organization. In fact, they didn't even give me the correct info. I basically feel that they don't care about my treatment.

I feel I'm getting excellent medical care

Dr. Shahinian is very professional, very knowledgeable, very explanatory, very patient, very detailed and very caring. He's also very devoted to each and every one of his patients and will go to the ends of the earth for all of them. When I was in the hospital this year for an unrelated health issue, (MRSA), he was in my room every day to visit me, check up on me and consult. He didn't have to do that, , and yet he did-to say I was uber-impressed is an understatement. Dr. Shahinian is one of the hardest working, passionate about his profession, devoted to his patients doctors you will ever meet. His office staff is always super sweet and ready to help you with anything. His wife, who works there too, is a doll. I consider the man a saint!:)

My experience with Dr. Shahinian and his staff was wonderful. I grew very close to these beautiful people. We laughed, we smiled and I'm in remission. I can't express how thanful I am that Dr. Shahinian was my doctor. My only concern is that I had difficulty getting my insurance claims filed in a timely manner or at all. I discovered that my statements were not mailed to me because they did not have my address in their computer until I brought it to their attention. Otherwise, truly I love all of you !!!!

Would like to spend less time waiting until the doctor sees me. I wait a long time in the lobby and another long time in the waiting room.
