Dr. Helaine K Worrell, MD

I have been seeing Doctor Worrell for a couple of years. I like her straight forward approach and she never rushes, she takes the time to talk to me and get to know me.

Could not be happier that she is my doctor!

Went into labor at 34 weeks. Dr. Worrell showed up at the hospital more than 12 hours after I did. Therefore she was not able to pick up that the reason for my premature labor was pre-eclampsia and HELPP syndrome. I had to have a c-section after which she did not come by to check on me in the hospital even once, though I was there for 5 days. Her partner, Dr. Levitan stopped by at 6 am one morning wearing a bright orange golf shirt. Clearly I was a pit stop on the way to a gold course. BI is a horrible hospital for OB and Dr. Worrell is an equally horrible OB doctor. Don't even get me started on her partner.

Office staff leaves a lot to be desired. As you wait you hear all about their personal life. Last time I was their Dr. Worrell had an emergency and no doctor was available. I travel a great distance and they said we called your home. I told them I was on my way why not call my cell. No apology. When I get home there is no call at all. I called to complain because this had happened before and I didn't want this to happen again. They told me if I had another doctor that was closer I could pick up my records. That ended 13 yrs with the office of Dr. Levitan & Dr. Worrell. They are great doctors. If you can put up with the office staff unprofessionalism then good luck. The nurses n doctors are great. I miss them.

I will NOT go back to Dr. Worrell. She misdiagnosed me with Herpes type 1. I had soars in my vaginal and anal area that looked nothing like herpes (and were later confirmed by 2 doctors not to be herpes.) They looked like cystic pimples and I was convinced that that's just what they were. However, she was so dead set on this diagnosis and made me feel uncomfortable for questioning it. Dr. Worell had taken a sample of the pimple in my vaginal area, which tested negative for anything. The blood test was positive for the antibodies of herpes simplex 1. I was contacted almost a week later by a different doctor with my results. Dr. Worrell was too busy to call me herself. I was somewhat devastated with the diagnosis, as I had no genital to genital or mouth to genital contact in the area. None of this made sense to me, and I wanted some explanation from Dr. Worell. It took me one week to get a hold of her on the phone to talk to her about my concerns. After looking at pictures… of genital herpes online, I just didn't feel settled in this diagnosis. I knew something was off. She finally called me back almost 2 weeks after my visit with her. Although she did explain to me after asking her that it was possible to have a herpes outbreak even if I had not ever had genital or oral contact in the vaginal area, she was rude, dismissive and abrupt with me. She made me feel uncomfortable for pushing for answers, as if I was in denial about it and she was annoyed by my pestering. The pimples kept coming and I finally saw my PCP who then referred me to another obgyn, AND they both confirmed with certainty that the pimples were not herpes.

Last year I saw Dr. Worrell for the first time. I was concerned that I had a yeast infection. When I saw Dr. Worrell she seemed quite sure that what I had was a Bacterial infection, and not a yeast infection. So she wrote me a prescription to cure the bacterial infection and told me to start taking it immediately. She took a culture during the appointment and informed me that the lab could verify the infection by the following day. After a week of taking the bacterial infection medicine, I was feeling worse rather than better. So I called Dr. Worrell. That was when she informed me that my results indicated that I had a yeast infection after all. She never called me to tell me that her diagnosis was incorrect, and that I should start taking the proper medicine right away. My infection got worse in the mean time, and I spent a week taking the wrong medicine due to her misdiagnosis and neglect.

for an OB this is a HUGEEEE factor for me. i tend to ask more questions than the average person and dr worrell LOVES to answer questions. she offers up worlds of information without asking too, which is extremely helpful bc you generally don't know all the questions you even need to ask. she spends as much time with you as you want and you never get the feeling she's waiting to sprint out the door as soon as possible. i felt like i was her only patient for the day. she's kind, she takes her time, she describes what she's doing, the purpose of things, etc etc. all in all, she's amazing.

Dr.Worrell is an awsome Dr. We need more like her.

Dr. Worrell has been my GYN for three years. She's great about spending time with me and answering questions - never seems rushed. Highly recommended.
