Dr. Ian Mackinno Purcell, MD

Dr. Ian Purcell has a big personality, big credentials, big office, big staff, which he claims is 10x the size of other neurologists, a number of unique comprehensive diagnostic tools, 2 waiting rooms and an auspicious entry way. He gives you the impression that he is dedicated to solving your issues. He ordered a very a thorough analysis, from brain scans to balance checks to MRI’s and blood tests. But his practice is a shell game: • He saw me for ~10 min during my initial visit and never again • The remaining visits were with an unseasoned PA o Never diagnosed the underlying problem o Failed to deal with the pain in my legs o Ordered a type of PT that the was deemed to be inappropriate for my situation o Wouldn’t answer my calls, nor respond to my emails, and was unavailable when I asked to see him in the office • His office staff didn’t execute the orders on my chart and had to be reminded that an MRI or a PT session should be scheduling. • The wait time when I arrived for an… appointment never fell below 1 hour.

Initially saw Dr. Patel in this practice and while she was nice, she wasn't inclined to acknowledge or treat chronic neuro Lyme. I got an appointment with another neuro that was but very difficult to get an appt with. So my rheumatologist referred me to Dr. Purcell, and he & his PA's were a different story. Highly recommend him and this practice. Got me in, answered my calls and questions. Didn't have to wait. My hope is if Dr. Purcell ever retires his PA's Kristen & Touraj will go back to med school and take his place. Highly recommend!

I visited this practice twice and only saw Dr. Purcell for 5 minutes, his staff did everything else. They mentioned to me the correct diagnosis but said it was an extreme long shot. Because of their misdiagnosis I spent many months in extreme pain. The correct diagnosis required quick medical treatment. Totally dropped the ball with me.

Would recommend him to everyone I know dealing with migraines or vertigo. Doctor was incredible, I felt like I was valued, important, asked lots of questions to get a precise diagnosis, wonderful customer service from all, and Dr. Purcell took wonderful care of me.

Listened patiently; asked questions; genuinely cared about my condition, did thorough exam; spoke slowly and clearly, explained my diagnosis in plain english; explained the need and efficacy of the medication; staff very courteous professional, office easy to get to, free parking. Highly recommend!

Chose this office based on credentials of the doctor, however he outsourced my whole treatment to his PA. The PA ordered the whole bunch of unnecessary and costly tests and still misdiagnosed me. Also, the PA misquoted the cost of services. After their treatment my issue was still unresolved. (Went to a different doctor afterwards, who found the right root cause and helped me fix it quickly.) After this incident, I was swamped by bills from Dr. Purcell's office. Even though I paid them all off right away, I continued to receive some additional bills a year after the service date. Will not recommend this provider.

Dr. Purcell is great. The office staff is very pleasant. I saw the Dr earlier on when I started treatmen . I have since had to come back for further treatment on the "chair". I saw Kendric the first time and thought he was great. I would recommend him to anyone. The next time I came I saw another gentleman who I will not name and I will say this as much as I liked Ken I couldn't deal with nameless. I hope such a wonderful office gets rid of dead weight. And keep up the good work. Even Jessie is wonderful.

I actually ended up seeing Stephanie, the Physician Assistant, my first time and really appreciate the time she took with me. A previous reviewer stated she wasn't competent, but I don't think most people understand the educational status of a PA and that they are Master's level and trained to diagnose. Also, vertigo is very complex and these people deal with it daily. I saw Dr. Purcell at the follow-up visit, but am overall happy to just see the PA. I'm on my way to feeling better with my vertigo and am greatful. She always takes the time to answer all my questions and when I do some research to compare what she has told me she is quite accurate. Even my primary care knows of her and is impressed with her thorough notes that she sends to him to keep him updated.
