Dr. Ines Stromberg, MD

Dr. Stromberg discriminates against transgender patients. I was referred to Dr. Stromberg by an ER physician at the Riverside Walter Reed Hospital for follow-up cystoscopy. There was a small possibility I might have bladder cancer. The earliest I could schedule an appointment with Dr. Stromberg was 2 months later. On the day of the appointment, her office manager and a nurse took me into an exam room to explain to me that Dr. Stromberg would not be treating me that day because I am transgender. I was given no opportunity to talk to Dr. Stromberg or to discuss my situation or medical needs. I was simply turned away and shoved off onto another urologist who couldn't see me until another two months later. Her refusal to see me was in violation of Virginia law and the nondiscrimination policies of the Riverside system. I ultimately scheduled an appointment with Dr. William M. Bruch III of Virginia Urology, who was fledgling urologist. I found him to be very caring and competent,… with an excellent bedside manner. The procedure that Dr. Stromberg wouldn't perform took all of 90 seconds.
