Dr. Israel Hodish, MD

Saw him for several months an endocrinological issue. He was never able to answer my questions in clear language. When I told him about my reaction to the medication he prescribed, he snapped (irritated) that he was treating the disease, not the symptoms, which made no sense. When my labs signaled I would need a lower dose of medication, he prescribed a higher dose and when I noted that to him, he then said, “Oh, yes,” and prescribed the lower dose. This guy maybe belongs in research, but not dealing with patients.

I have been under the care of Dr Israel Hodish and the endocrinology clinic for the last 6 months. I’m writing this review because the care I have received from the doctor and the clinic have been exceptional. I found him to be very kind, knowledgable and he is dedicated to helping me find solutions to my condition. I have never felt rushed and he explains things thoroughly making sure I understand them. His office and team reverberate this excellent quality of care. In a medical system where I have often feel like a number, Dr Hodish has renewed my faith and brought humanity back to the practice of medicine. I have found a place where not only my health but my feelings are considered with great care.

Very thorough

Saw Dr. Hodish for an endocrine evaluation, referred from my primary care provider. He looked at me and said I don’t have any endocrine issues (then ordered a cursory thyroid test that had been done 3 times in the past year). He recommended an MRI and sleep study because I have headaches and I’m gaining weight without listening to any of my other symptoms. Went back to my primary care doctor who is an excellent and caring provider and was given a long list of labs to go with my MRI and sleep study. When the results came back, I was told that several of my lab values were outside of normal ranges and that my primary would be consulting with Dr. Hodish. Made a phone call myself to be sure that he had received the results and the nurse informed me that he didn’t see anything wrong with my lab values (in spite of a few being well outside normal ranges). When I saw him in his office, I found him to be dismissive, not informative, he didn’t listen at all and after a cursory glance at me he… had his mind made up that I was beneath his time and energy. I asked for clarification about the recommendation for a sleep study and was completely brushed off. Worst doctor I have ever been to see!

Absolutely would NEVER go to this doctor again. Does not know endocrinology at all. Incompetent. Based on the fact that I am divorced and chose not to have children, assumed I must be clinically depressed!

Dr Hodish is very caring and has a wonderful, patient bedside manner.
