Dr. Jacob S. Ballon

I lost my hospital job during the peak of covid thanks to Dr. Ballon. I’d done my due diligence and research, but there wasn’t enough evidence to using 2 high-risk same-class meds not studied/approved to be used together except 2 case studies (2 homicidal people with pages long history of failed med regimens). I’d asked for guidance from colleagues, the psych manager, and psych specialists from other hospitals before I presented data that did not support the meds combo. Dr. Balloon and his resident were rude and mean, and they could not provide any clinical studies/cases that supported the usage of the meds together but “feelings that benefits outweighed the risks”. The pt’s history was nowhere close to the case study pt’s. I later learned that the manager who coached me through to deny the med approval later spoke to him privately and threw me under the bus. Of course she never told me about the email. I found out later when I was losing my job. Ty for inducing anxiety and depression!

I didn’t find him to be compassionate or on top of the details. I would expect more given his role with Inspire. He was also less versed on a particular medication that he should know a lot about given his role. Overall really disappointed . I had high hopes.

I had a very bad experience under Dr. Ballon's care at Stanford. I strongly advise others to seek care elsewhere.

I have seen Dr. Ballon on several occasions and have found him to be knowledgeable and compassionate. He helped me through a very difficult time and I won't hesitate to make another appointment with him if the need arises. Thank you Dr. Ballon! You're an asset to your profession!

Great personality and bedside manner, very knowledgeable, returns calls promptly. I just wish he ran his office on time.
