Dr. Jacob Sams, MD

I went to see Dr. Sams for a severe pain in my knee that ran all the way down my leg. I was rushed to X-rays. Dr. Sams said your bones are good and then he raised my leg and said “I want to see more muscle.” So he wanted me to go to physical therapy (remember I went in for severe pain in my knee). He gave me an injection and his nurse tried to get Dr. Sams to read my chart. He gave me a cortisone injection and am highly allergic to cortisone. I called the office later and the girl told me that he treats all patients like me the same. I am retired. Dr. Sams maybe said ten words to me. Dr. Sams didn’t really care about me he was just trying to get rid of me as soon as he could. If Dr. Sams had really cared he would have done an ultrasound on my knee-but hey he just wanted to see more muscle in the lower half of my leg. I am still in a lot of pain but as Dr. Sams being a specialist I could not believe his response. Dr. Sams is our today’s specialist.

I was taken to the room and immediately taken for X-rays. Had not even completed my application. He comes in the room and the usual why are you here. Looks at my X-rays and raises my leg (because of knee pain) and says I want to see more muscle and sends me off to therapy (minding you he never looked at my application). He also gave me an injection not telling me what it was. Called the office the next day and come to find out it contained steroids which I am allergic to. His receptionist said “he treats all patients my age the same.” There you go-go figure!

Unhappy with care. After surgery my knee became infected. It took three weeks and a call from my p.t. For him to acknowledge that I had an infection. It was a long recovery.

Dr. Sams replaced both of my dad's hips and he is finally able to enjoy life and run around and play with his grandkids! Dr. Sams has also treated my mom for some orthopedic issues. Our family is safe in knowing that any orthopedic concerns are in good hands!

Dr. Sams evaluated my shoulder pain and explained my options. We decided to do a reverse shoulder replacement on my left shoulder, based on the level of pain vs. my right shoulder. My right shoulder has been a problem longer with a failed rotator cuff surgery two years prior with a surgeon in Springfield. After completing the left shoulder and finding a great range of motion and "no pain", we scheduled a reverse shoulder replacement in my right shoulder. We completed that operation 10 months after the left shoulder. "Dr. Jake" have a mutual interest in things mechanical. He tells me about difficult surgeries (no names of course) and I tell him about machining and welding. My wait times in the office fall well within my comfort level. He has always answered my questions in a timely manner and is full of good humor.

Extremely long waiting time in the waiting room and patient room....over an hour! Told me that I did not have a fracture when, in fact, 2 radiologists read the MRI and confirmed a fracture! Told me that he didn't know why I was there.....was a total waste of about $350 for his x-rays and office visit! I went to another orthopedic doctor who did confirm the fracture and will continue to see the other guy, Dr. Kefalas, who was extremely pleasant and prompt. He even took the time to show me the fracture on the MRI. I guess Dr. Sams only wants to be your doctor if he can generate a surgical outcome and he can rake in the cash flow.......my fracture did not require any surgery but I still needed to know how to take care of the fracture to prevent any other harm and how long to expect healing. You can still be a good doctor, and share your knowledge, ven if your patient doesn't have to have surgery.......Dr. Sams was not willing to be a good doctor to me the day I seen him.....won't… go back and won't recommend him.

He replaced my hip almost 2 yrs ago now. He explained things to me before hand, what to expect so there were no surprises. He and his office staff go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable in a stressful situation. Would go back in a heart beat and highly recommend him

Dr. Sams operated on my son's knee. Dr. Sams was very helpful in explaining the injury and how the surgery and recovery would proceed. He was not in a rush and took the time to be sure we understood everything. He did a wonderful job and my son has an excellent recovery. Our family is extremely satisfied with Dr. Sams and would not hesitate to use him for any future orthopedic problems.
