Dr Mouzakes was excellent my son was having some serious issues his appointment was booked out he moved him right up and surgery was with in the next week and he loves kids and it shows he has an excellent bedside manner he was really awesome im glad my son was referred to him and recieved the best care he went above and beyond

Wonderful, caring, friendly. Probably one of the best experiences I’ve been a part of when visiting a doctor. Highly, highly recommend him!!!

Dr. Mouzakes removed a thyroglossal duct cyst from my three-year-old’s neck last week and is a wonderful doctor. Extremely comforting, knowledgeable, excellent bedside manner. So glad we went with him!

Dr. Mouzakes’ nurse called to say he wanted to see my child right away after reviewing his chart from the pediatrician. When we arrived his assistant Dale was very rude and when the doctor came in her barely examine my child and was so condescending to us. He was talking negatively about us to a nurse in the room right in front of us. We left without our child being thoroughly examined. We will never be back to this provider.

Today I took my 6 year old son to see Dr. Mouzakes for a follow up appointment. My son recently had a sleep study at st. peters hospital and this was a follow up in regards to that test. Our first visit with Dr. Jason Mouzakes was pleasant. He pointed out how large my sons tonsils were and said they needed to be removed but that we needed to have a sleep study done to prove to our insurance company that my son was having trouble breathing and sleeping. I said ok and asked him if he happened to know the cost for the sleep study or if I needed to go ask someone in billing. He replied by saying “oh no, it wont cost you a thing because your insurance requires this in order to pay for the surgery, we will make sure it doesn’t cost you anything!” I was surprised that he said that and I replied that we have pretty bad insurance and I just wanted to make sure I knew the cost and he reassured me. Being a mom to a fairly young son and because we are a prior military family ( my husband served… 9 years in the United States Marine Corps) we haven’t had many tests or surgeries in the civilian world so I am still learning how this all works. I went home, told my husband about the sleep study and what Dr. Mouzakes said and we arranged the study. After the sleep study much to my surprise I received a 3,500$ bill. I was shocked and upset because we hadn’t expected that. I knew then that I shouldn’t have asked a doctor about the financial cost of anything since that usually isn’t something they are too familiar with. My mom was surprised that he had even said that to me and so was I. Obviously he was wrong and this sleep study was going to cost us a huge amount of money that we had not planned for, it’s a hard lesson learned and now I know better. Today I went for the follow up and Dr. Mouzakes was pleasant. He told me a few things from my sons sleep study and that he could get his tonsils taken out. He was nice to my son and talked to him. I then reminded him of what he said at the last appointment about how our insurance would cover the sleep study and he said “didn’t your insurance cover it?” I replied and said no and that we have high cost insurance which is why I had originally asked him if he knew the cost or if I should speak to someone in billing. He said that he doesn’t know about my insurance and he doesn’t deal with that. I calmly told him that I figured that much and that we are a prior military family and haven’t dealt with this much and that we now know not to ask a doctor financial questions. I calmly told him that he probably shouldn’t tell a patient what their financial responsibility will be if he doesn’t actually know. I could barely get that point out because he kept cutting me off, interrupting me, and shouting that he doesn’t know insurance. I kept asking him to let me finish my point because I was upset and that once I got it out I would be finished and he could say what he needed to. This is not what happened. Instead of Dr Mouzakes having a calm adult conversation with me where I simply asked him to not give patients wrong financial information he screamed and yelled at me. He SCREAMED that he didn’t know about insurance, that he doesn’t know the cost of the sleep study, he also yelled “oh, you wouldn’t have had the sleep study if you knew the cost?” to which I replied “We would have had it but we would have waited a couple months and saved up the money for it” he yelled “Get out! Get out of my office!” He POINTED at my sweet 6 year-old son and screamed “TAKE YOUR KID AND GET OUT OF HERE” “GET OUT OF MY OFFICE” Meanwhile my 3 year old was sitting right next to me probably terrified and my 9 month old was sitting on my lap while this grown man stood over us yelling. At that point I had had it and was in shock. I had never demanded anything from him and I had never been rude or yelled at him. I had no clue what had made him so angry that he was yelling at my children and I. I told him that he could leave my office room until the kids and I were packed up and he screamed at me “ YOUR OFFICE? YOUR OFFICE? I WORK HERE THIS IS MY OFFICE” to which I replied “No, I paid for this visit so right now this is my office, and I will be sure to write a review of my experience with you today” He screamed “I’LL WRITE A REVIEW OF YOU” and then he stormed off down the hall. My 3 year old said “mommy can we leave now” in a sad voice and I gathered up my children and we left as fast as we could. Leaving there I had so many feelings, I was shocked, terrified, hurt, sad, and horrified. Dr. Mouzakes could have simply said he was sorry about the bill and to let him know if we wanted to do the surgery, instead he scared my children, he scared me, and he made Albany Med look bad. It was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in real life. He completely transformed into a scary screaming monster. A part of me wonders what his reaction would have been if my husband was there with me. He was perfectly ok with screaming at me in front of my children and that to me is the most alarming thing. He is a PEDIATRIC ENT surgeon, he works with children, he should know better. Everyone has bad days and gets stressed out and occasionally says things that they regret and I understand that. If he had simply been unfriendly with me I would have never complained. I would have left and never come back but I wouldn’t have written a bad review or told anyone about my experience. I am only doing this now because it was such an over- the-top horrific event for my family. My children should not be scared to go to a doctors office. On the way home my 3 year old son kept saying “mommy can we please only go to our doctor” (he is referring to our fantastic and kind PA that my children see in Charlton) I can never take back that he scared me and my children. I can only teach them that yelling at someone is wrong and that no one should ever speak to you that way and we should never speak to someone else that way.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Mouzakes and his staff. He is overall extremely knowledgeable, a skilled surgeon, professional, super friendly, great with kids (and their parents), and he is supported by wonderful staff - what more can you ask for?

Dr Mouzakes is by far the BEST ent Dr for children, he is both extremely qualified but also loves the kids he treats. He is amazing!!!
