Dr. John Charles Goldner, MD

Dr. Goldner was very personable and cheerful, yet serious about my health. I could tell he was truly listening to my symptoms, which was demonstrated by his extensive note taking. He repeated my symptoms back to me to ensure he got everything correct, which I appreciated. He also held off on a diagnosis until after he fully examined and listened to me. He was very knowledgeable. He didn’t rush me and made me feel important. I would definitely return if needed!

I went in to see him about a concussion that happened about 3 months prior. I had smacked into a curb while trying to drive on ice and I hit my head. Dr. Goldner was surprised when I mentioned there was ice like he had thought I had just driven into a curb on purpose. It seemed like before I even said anything he had his opinion of me and his diagnosis in mind. He had asked me questions about what I did right after the accident (that was months ago). I could mostly answer his questions about it. He kept asking for exactly what I had been doing that day. I don't remember every single thing I did that day because--fun fact--memory problems are associated with brain injuries. My boyfriend came in with me to see Dr. Goldner and he remembered that I had been texting him that day about how I felt. At this point Dr. Goldner said, "Well, why don't I just ask you then." This solidified my assumption that he thought I was an idiot. I had mentioned at one point that I thought I had a… concussion to which he responded with "I am not interested in the diagnosis; it is my job to decide that. I am interested in the symptoms." I think it is pretty logical that if I think I may have a concussion that I would have the symptoms of one. He asked me when I noticed one of the symptoms I am experiencing. I tried to answer his question saying that I had only noticed when my regular doctor did a test. He cut me off before I could finish my sentence and proceeded to lecture me for about 3 minutes. He would not let me talk about anything else that was wrong. Instead, he bragged about his previous patient who was in the NFL. Dr. Goldner had another doctor shadowing him at the time. Dr. Goldner snapped at him for not opening a door quick enough. Overall, he would not listen to me; lectured me when I tried to answer his questions; was rude to me; thought I was stupid; he was condescending; thinks he is the smartest person in the room; and he was very, very unhelpful. I do not trust the diagnosis he gave me at all.

Everything is pretty good, except the care provided by the doctor. Should have known getting appointments that quick was a bad sign.
