Dr. Johnny Jaehwan Choi, MD

He hired a hospice and at midnight my mother is drinking coffee. I left hospice in care of my mother so I could rest and by 11am later that morning she was pronounced dead!

Painted a pretty picture, but it isn't pretty. Mom didn't get a shower for almost 2 weeks in the nursing facility. We don't like the facility - but really have no other options. I would NOT recommend this doctor to anyone!!!

It is my opinion that Dr. Johnny Choi is gifted with an abrasive personality and obnoxious bedside manner. His narcissistic personality sets a new standard in the world of insurance managed hospital care and his ability to quash hope for recovery from a sick patient is unparalleled. Dr. Johnny Choi would be absolutely the last physician I would recommend from which the truly ill to receive care.

My mom was a patient of Caremore and Johnny Choi was her doctor. She fell and had fractures in her back and was put into rehab. She really had no rehab and was made to leave in the same condition she arrived. Her husband passed away while she was in the facility for 2 weeks and I needed to move her to Santa Rosa near me so i could help her. I have had the WORST time getting insurance in order because Caremore does not cover out of Stanislaus/Santa Clara counties and finally got insurance and a doctor appt for her. The day before seeing her new doctor, a nurse called an said my mom had not more Tramadol and she was very worried about her not having it that evening. I called Dr. Choi's office as the nurse had already done, and he would not just give her 2 more pills to hold her over to the next afternoon. She had horrible withdrawals; shaking, convulsions and hallucinations. Tramadol is something that you wean off of. She is not a complainer but has become extremely weak and is… going downhill quickly. I believe it is because she didn't have the proper rehab to begin with and was forced to leave too early. It was also a hard start in a new area with new insurance and finding a new doc. I am shocked the Dr. Choi would refuse to give an 85 year old woman 2 Tramadol pills knowing full well that she would experience withdrawals.

My mom was hospitized for lymphoma cancer. He came in her ICU room and told her she was going to die from the chemo she was being treated with. Her oncologist told us that my mom was doing great. He said if we really wanted our mom quality of life to be like this. He never saw my mom prior to this visit but can give her the death sentence. If she was dying why would they move her to a regular room from ICU.

We met Dr. Choi while Mom was hospitalized. Our family was very impressed with his honesty, compassion and response to our concerns. His wilingness to contact patients and follow up immediately on issues is truly outstanding. He's one of the most caring Dr's I've ever met.
