Dr. Jonathan Charles Uecker, MD

Nystrom & Associates left me between a rock and a hard place. I have not seen my doctor for over a year because my out-of-pocket insurance co-pay is $250 and finances have become tight. Then I lost my job. There is a program with the State of Minnesota where disability candidates are given a trial work period as opposed to going through the interview process which many of us find unusually challenging. This would be a tremendous help in getting a job. Nystrom refuses to sign the paperwork that would allow me access to the program without a $250+ office visit. For those without insurance, they indicated the price is $460. I have zero income at this time but they refused to help. Dr. Uecker himself is highly knowledgable, and, until I lost the financial ability to see him, provided outstanding advice and direction. I'm posting this review more for the benefit of all potential patients of Nystrom - it appears that this issue is organization-wide and not specific to Dr. Uecker.

I've been seeing Dr. Uecker for over ten years. He really listens to me and is very knowledgeable in his field. Overall a great doctor.

He really helped me improve after having seen numerous other mental health providers. Told me I was on too many addictive drugs and helped me get off them ... and now I am doing better.

Very moody and not very knowledable about drug interactions or things that may decrease effectivness of meds or cause anxiety (ie citric acid, caffiene or fatty foods with stimulants). Gets visably annoyed when you complain about side effects or ask for a lower dose or different medication. "made it clear" that he wouldnt "give me more xanax" even though i dont take it, never asked for a dose increase or even refilled any of the five refills he gave me in six months. Also threatened to stop treating me if i kept "self adjusting" my medication, which never happened. I think he either gets patients mixed up or takes things the wrong way. His nurse is unprofessional and relays incorrect info to uecker when you speak with her or leave a phone message.
