Replaced my aorta valve and preformed a triple by pass 18 months ago and I have been in excellent health since my surgery. He and his staff were great. Thank you Dr. Hessel. Clay Overson

I had no second thoughts about Dr Hessel taking my life and my heart, literally, into his hands. Good pre surgery info on what I may expect and daily visits after surgery. Attentive follow up visit. Again, thanks to Dr Hessel.

I don't doubt that Dr. Hessel is an excellent surgeon, but I was very unimpressed with how well he explained what I could expect following my surgery. I was encouraged to call his office after my operation if I had any problems, but every time I called his assistant brushed me off and told me to contact my PCP. His bedside manner also leaves much to be desired. God forbid if you don't understand something he says and you ask a question. We were quickly intimidated to not ask any questions or call his office. Sadly I still have issues with the nerves in my hands but I know I won't get any help from his assistant, and I wouldn't dare ask him if I could.

Very compassionate. Excellent surgeon. Excellent bedside manner. Very knowledgable. Set expectations and recovery was very accurate to what he stated! He knows his stuff!

At the age of 44 I had a stroke, 2 tumors on my heart, and also needed a valve replacement. He saved my life!

Dr. Hessel is a true professional being a former athlete I could see his dedicated work ethic immediately and his knowledge. Being a young patient with a pretty big complicated surgery he said just the right things and was very confident. For that I owe Dr. Hessel a big thanks I will be able to see boys grow a little older. I hope to catch you at a game Dr. Go dbacks

Dr. Hessel saved my husbands life. He spent more time with him before & after the surgery then any other doctor we've ever had. He could be harsh with incompetent nursing, but was an angel when it came to his patients and their families. Unfortunately my husband developed cancer & the treatment began before his heart had a chance to heal & he passed away less than 6 months after his open heart surgery.
