Dr. Joseph B Koscielniak, MD

Have had many surgeries with Dr. over many years. Shattered Tibia/Fibula, both shoulders, one frozen, and the other, torn rotator cuff and bursa shaved off. most recently carpal tunnel, and broken humerus. 100 % back to norm with rehab. I have referred friends and family and all had good outcomes. He's the best!

I have had three knee surgeries (one scope on each knee and one ACL replacement) and an elbow surgery from an old injury. I was able to come back from each with 100% function and range of motion with no pain. I lead a pretty active life, and was able to resume sports sooner than expected. He is a very likeable guy, and has a great bedside manner.

I have had many orthopedic surgeries with Dr. Koscielniak and they have all been very good.

I had each of my knees replaced about a year apart from each other. I could not be happier with the results. Dr. Koscielniak too the time necessary to get it right. He was very concerned about any pain or after effects each time I visited his office. Couldn't ask for a more competent surgeon. His office is always full of patients waiting to see him and he is very good about taking the time necessary with each patient but moves along quickly.

Those who know Dr. Koscielniak, go to Dr. Koscielniak. I was in a very bad car accident last year. Femur broken, arm broken and just over all messed up. Dr. Koscielniak was came to the emergency room and took me to surgery right away. I was in extreme pain and scared, but he did everything he could to calm me down and tell me the realities of my situation. I was in the hospital for a while after my surgery, and he came to visit me everyday. He is a very honest guy. He speaks his mind. During my recovery he pushed me to go to physical therapy. I had to go 3 to 5 times a week to start. It was so painful I didn't want to return. He told me it was up to me. The more work I put into my recovery the more I could gain. He reminded that it takes time to have the body heal but I need to assist in my own recovery by doing physical therapy -- not only with the therapist but also on my own. He was sooooo right! I am now I am training for my first half marathon. He is a really great doctor, and I… would not go to anyone else.

this doctor really messed me up. i had just moved to indiana when i stepped off a stair and broke my foot. at first he said it was lined up and should heal good, then a week later he put me in a walking cast. which in turn made the bone slip. (i have 2 kids, if you tell me to walk on it, i will)so that meant surgery. when he put my bone back together, he made it facing down. which means when i walk i walk on the tip of the bone. He told me it looked great and it was healing fine. I decided to move back to florida and had a doctor look at it here. well needless to say, i'm now going to get surgery again to fix what he messed up. plus his bedside manor is horrible. he has a dry sense of humor and he doesn't mind cutting you down. I always felt bad when i left there. i defiantly would not recommend this doctor. not even to my worst enemy.

This dr. has a very poor bedside manner. He neither listens nor does he try to provide a solution. His only solution is surgery. He does not consider physical therapy as a first solution before cutting, and doesn't consider a lot of physical therapy post op. As a result, my knee is messed up-bone density loss due to overcompensation and slight atrophy. My knee hurts so much more than prior to surgery,it was only a meniscus repair. Had I known it would hurt as much as it does, I would never had surgery. I have gotten a second opinion and the solution is more therapy. I was also told that it natural for 41 year old knees to have slight tearing and possibly may have not needed surgery. Physical therapy should have been explored prior to cutting. My new Dr. has done a lot of research and has written several articles for medical journals on knee injuries. This Dr. only prescribed 1 exercise to do myself at home post op. I initially spent only 15 minutes with the therapist post op. … The current therapy includes 5 different exercises that should have been done in the first place. Thank goodness for this therapy because it seems to be helping. I do not recommend this Dr. because he makes you feel bad and yells at you as if it's your fault for being injured and not healing properly. When asking why still in pain, he thinks you are being critical of his surgical skills and gets angry and defensive. Patients are only looking for a solution. He was also 1 1/2 hours late for the surgery; I was the first for the day. I would give him 0 stars in bedside manner, but it's not an option. He always has you coming for a follow up that is never productive-it's just more money for his pocket.

I seen him years ago on a workers comp case. Waited for ever for him to tell me to go back to work in Pain. Read Mri and said nothing was wrong when same Mri was read later something was found. Didn't want to treat me after that point. Went to see him because I was working and in a lot of pain. I told him I was in pain and needed pain Meds he told his nurse, " Give him what ever he wants and get him out of here!!!" Well now numbers of bad Disks and Neurophy have been found YEARS later.
