Dr. Joseph Mark Stewart, MD

He delivered my daughter 23 years ago today and I have been thinking about him every since..What a great Doctor thank you so much.Wish I could get ahold of him and thank him again.

THE WHOLE PRACTICE IS HORRIBLE! DO NOT CHOOSE THEM AS YOUR OBGYN--- YOU WILL BE NOTHING MORE THAN A PAYCHECK TO THEM! WANT THE BEST DOCTOR IN ROCKFORD?! Dr. David Schleicher at Swedish American. My first pregnancy ever was with this doctor, Dr. Stewart, and it was horrible. I was a paycheck for this man and nothing more. I had severe nausea- throwing up blood from my raw esophagus, couldn't eat, lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks and was contemplating having an abortion because it was so bad. I called the office and spoke with Dr. Stewart's nurse about it all and told her I made an appointment at the abortion clinic but that I REALLY didn't want to do it. We planned this baby. I told her I would try anything. All she said was (basically) along the lines of 'suck it up or keep the appointment.' I asked to try anything under the sun and moon when I had seen the doctor- all he tried me on was Zofran and that was a JOKE! I tried to switch doctors/clinics since I was only 8 weeks along but… no one would take me since I had already seen this doctor once for the pregnancy. Instead I went to walk-in clinics and had seen 2 family doctors to try to help me with my symptoms--- I tried it all ...honey on lemon.. Diclegis.. Zofran.. crackers.. ginger.. you name it, I tried it. After I had to find my own remedy for the issue... (no- I didn't have the abortion)... Dr. Stewart was very cold throughout out the appointments, did not explain things, nor was he concerned about my health/well being. This was my FIRST pregnancy and I was scared, sick and felt soooo alone when it came to my health care- like no one cared. Then to top it off-- the doctor tells me he doesn't want me to see other doctors in the same clinic during the pregnancy since he will be the one to deliver me..... HA! He didn't even tell me that he had a vacation for the week of my due date. I found out at my 39 week appointment when I was leaving and made my 40 week appointment with Dr. Field. I was HOT about that. Then.... oooo yes it gets worse... I went into labor at my 40 week check-up with Dr. Field. He sent me straight to the hospital and let the doctor on call know. (Funny short side story- the hospital almost sent me home that night because they didn't think my water had broken LOL!- yeah they are REALLY smart there! NOT!) When it came time to deliver, I asked for an extra shot of pain meds, and at this point I was STILL getting sick everyday (2-12 times a day!). My left hip had moved to make room, and the baby was in position and ready to go. ( I asked for the extra pain dose when my hip moved- wooooowza that was a feeling I wont forget!) Dr. Hollman walked in and was getting ready to help with delivery when I said "stop, I need a minute" (I had to throw up -again) to which he told the nurse "Why did you call me out of practice for this" ---- That's the lasting impression this clinic of JERKS left me.... WANT THE BEST DOCTOR IN ROCKFORD?! Dr. David Schleicher at Swedish American. My second pregnancy was a mirror to the first but he tried everything under the sun for me, he cared, his staff cared, and he kept the promise to deliver my baby himself-- even though he was not on-call. BEST doctor I have ever met, hands down. I will say that sometimes his practice runs behind but I have NO problem with waiting for a doctor that I know will give me all his focus and time when it's my turn with him. I'm glad he is more concerned with the quality of his work rather than the quantity, of seeing how many people he can see in a day.

Dr. Stewart delivered all of 3 of my children. He is a very caring and knowledgeable doctor with great staff. He never seemed rushed and always took the time for my questions. I was so lucky to be in his care.

Dr Stewart is personally a very capable doctor and is very good at his job. His staff on the other hand are unorganized and unprofessional. They misplace FMLA paperwork and then frantically search for it when you ask for it. When they find it, they fill out it quickly on the spot because they "forgot" and do it wrong. Then you have to get new forms to start process again and they tell you "we legally have 30 days to get these back to you" when the deadline to have them turned in is rapidly approaching and the only reason you're going to miss the deadline is because they are unorganized. Dr Stewart then apologized profusely for his staff messing up but then it happens again with the new forms. They have them for a week, we go to pick them up and they cant find them and then quickly fill them out incorrectly, then tell us we have to wait an additional 30 days to get forms because that's how long they legally have. Meanwhile my g/f is on the verge of being fired for missing only 4 days… out of the month directly related to her pregnancy. So if you want a good doctor then Dr Stewart is more than capable, but if you are going to need his staff to do anything what so ever, I recommend going with a different doctor.
