Dr. Joseph Daniel Weissman, MD

By 75 years of close contact with the medical community, starting with all early years growing up with my 30 year Veteran Hospital Administrator Father, I am a well qualified "outside observer" when judging medical action. Trust me on this one: Upon being Dr. Weissman's patient for something less than a year now; I already know, for certain, we are in good hands with this Doctor. Dr. Weissman is easily among the best Doctors in these parts. We may find his rare equal; however, we will not find a better nor more intelligent Doctor. Two years of required medicinal chemistry for all Medical Doctors is standard; however, this Dr. has an additional PhD in organic chemistry. Here, his understanding of our individualized medicinal chemical needs is beyond compare; and, can (in fact, "must") must be accepted with complete confidence. Importantly for my case, Dr. Weissman, with no coddling nor compunction, quickly put me in my place in medical reality. This is an extremely… conservative, no nonsense doctor who wastes nothing on off base testing or hypochondriac like complaining. A perfect approach for patients like me who believe we know it all; and, can come (by listening to him) to the stark realization: "we do not." Horrible horrible experience. He did not ask for my consent nor did he tell me what he was doing or why when he put his hands on me. He wrenched my neck which caused excruciating pain and made me cry. He did not review any of the documents I provided with data on my sleep. He did not even review the paperwork his staff insisted I complete. He berated me, talked down to me, and told me my insomnia is because of depression. (It is not.) I was told I had to have a home sleep study before I saw him, which I did (expensive!) and he said it was useless. He did not ask any questions about my sleep It took 4 months to see him, and I will never go see him again. DO NOT GO SEE HIM.

I absolutely loved my experience with Dr. Weismann. He listened and heard everything I had to say about my case of vertigo. He was very interested and took a good amount of time with me. So thankful that he sent me to an amazing vestibular physical therapist, Julie. Loved her too. They corresponded more than once about my case and within 10 days, my vertigo was gone!!

After a not-so-good experience with someone else, I was extremely impressed with Dr. Weissman. He was an attentive listener and was able to suggest tests leading to a proper diagnosis within a few minutes (the previous neurologist had merely prescribed pain medication -- which was really a minor consideration given all of my other symptoms -- without trying to figure out the underlying issue). Additionally, Dr. Weissman is willing to explain the medical nuances and more technical aspects of a condition for a non-specialist (which I love). I appreciate that he thinks out loud as he problem solves and makes care suggestions. He has a direct but not uncaring manner (which again, works for me). Thank you, thank you!

Dr. Weissman has been very good to me and has helped me move to the next step with my MS. He understands MS better than most doctors and will talk things out with you. Staff is great, other than one person.

He is very professional, caring, brilliant, and informative. He gave me hope when I had none of my own. He stopped my seizures when other doctors tried and failed. He is an amazing medical doctor and would highly recommend him to anyone needing a neurologist. He and his staff are amazing.

Dr. Weissman took one look at me and knew exactly what was wrong. I had been in pain for a month and it took 2 trips to the hospital, one trip to the doctor, one trip to the ophthalmologist and finally to Dr. Weissman's office. He said that he couldn't believe nobody could diagnose my IH. Granted it is not common but come on. He was great. I have been seeing him since 08 and now my IH is in remission. Thank you Dr. Weissman.
