Dr. Joshua Alexander, DO

This office treats patient as a transaction. Oblivious to patient needs. existing patient called for an urgent need and no one including the doctor cared to help.

Dr. Alexander is a Unicorn! This man saved my life and gave me back hope in the medical system and doctors in general within 5 minutes of meeting him. I had a seizure while driving and hit another car head on. I broke my back, both ankles, and had a concussion. After being under the care of a prominent neurologist at UCSD for 7 months I was discharged with no answers and was told my symptoms would most likely go away with time and that it was probably just “circumstantial depression” and her treatment plan was for me to follow up with a psychologist!! I refused to accept this answer and did my own research and read an article Dr. Alexander was featured in about PCS (post concussion syndrome). So, I changed my insurance and waited 4 months to be able to see him and it was the best life decision I’ve ever made! A YEAR of suffering and hundreds of different doctors and Dr. Alexander figured out I had a severe TBI within 15 minutes. He got me into the Brain Rehabilitation program at… Scripps hospital immediately and I was on my way to healing. Best Neurologist ever.

This doctor has been extremely harmful to my healthcare over the last year. He has not provided any treatment for a progressive challenging health condition for a year and has been unavailable when experiencing emergent health issues for many weeks at a time even by message. He would not complete simple tasks to allow me to start my treatment when it had been approved, his staff lied often and were quite rude consistently, he was very defensive and ego focused, put a diagnosis of non compliance in my chart because I could not do a treatment that required me to take 5 days off work unpaid and also pay 5000 dollars instead of moving on or helping me access care, violated HIPPA twice due to him looking at and misreading outside reports and documenting misinformation (once after I expressly communicated revoking all consents and had not seen him in months and had alerted him I was no longer working with him as my doctor), he sent a letter firing me back when I told him I was no longer… seeing him as my doctor with all of this, and has made it much harder to get care with increased stress for no reason when already struggling with a complex health issue. I would think twice before trusting him as a healthcare provider.

As a 67 year old having had nephropathy and sciatica for many years, I can only say Dr. Alexander is the best. He is extremely knowledgable, kind, takes time with you and is very patient.

I have Myasthenia Gravis. I Dr Alexander with a specific desire to try a medication that is among the only - if not the only - medications approved for my condition. He shrugged off the idea with an arrogant attitude, telling me that the medication was far too heavy of a move and that I didn't require such "extreme" measures. I was at a loss.... I made another appointment with a Neurologist in Orange County who was more than happy to entertain my request with an open mind and caring heart. I have now been on this specialized Intravenous medication for several months and I'm now proud to say that I am in what is termed "pharmacological remission!" Which in layman's terms means that I HAVE NO SIGN OF THE DISEASE!!! I'm now back to training for a marathon, which I haven't been able to say would've been close to possible without this new therapy. If you want the latest in advanced treatments - which I thought was the hallmark of an institution such as Scripps - I'd recommend… staying FAR away!!! Definitely avoid Dr Alexander, who seems to practice stone-age methodologies.
