I strive to provide comprehensive evaluations and specialized treatment for emotional and psychological problems, relationship issues, and psychiatric disorders. My hope is to offer an approach that is eclectic, non-judgmental, and warm. Psychotherapy and medication are considered in order to best meet the needs of the individual. I am Board Certified in Psychiatry and have been in private practice since 1990. I served as the Director of The Outpatient Center for Mental Health at Lenox Hill Hospital/NSLIJ for twelve years. I trained at the University of Vermont School of Medicine and at NYU Medical Center. I also studied psychotherapy and psychoanalysis at The Psychoanalytic Institute at NYU Medical Center. I am a member of the American Psychiatric Association.Please note: I have two practice locations. The Outpatient Center for mental health at 210 east 64th street location accepts most insurance plans and can be reached at 212-434-3365. People seen at the Faculty Practice location …at 111 East 77th street must use out of network insurance benefits as I am not a participant in any managed care network at this site. I have Been seeing Dr. Dorsky for 10 years now. I came to him after I had been seeing a psychiatrist that I was not making much progress under . Actually, She was a Nightmare. I was being Overly Medicated and Treated with Disrespect. Dr. Dorsky has really been there for me 100%. He Cares and I feel is Brilliant at Diagnosis and Prescribing the Correct Medication. The Benefit of having a Horrid Experience with One Dr. And then meeting Dr Dorsky was Huge.. There is No Comparison in the Quality of Care I am Receiving from Him.. . He has Respect for my Life and a Determination to help me make it Better and He has Succeeded. All my Appreciation to You Dr. Dorsky and I Really Hope I can Inspire One to Seek Him Out. I feel he is a gifted Dr. ....He Listens, Very caring, definitely Not a pill pusher. I am extremely fortunate to have found him.

Seems to want to figure out the problem but not exceedingly available if issues with prescriptions or insurance (he doesn't take insurance in private practice so can't blame him for not wanting to get an insurance company to follow up). Easy to make appointments, I like that he uses email and he gives info on drugs he is thinking about and explains reasons for or against them.
