Dr. Joy Chou Liu, DO

Turned away my son for having Medicaid due to disability in addition to our very good private insurance. He wasn’t using it. They made him get his medical transportation back early after charging him a copay to our good insurance. He wasn’t using Medicaid. They claimed it “cancels out” which is what a completely inexperienced person would think. They made him cry.

When moved to EDH about ten years ago, Dr. Joy Liu was highly recommended to us by our friends here. Looking back, my wife and myself were so lucky, ever since Dr. Liu agreed to be our primary care physician. Dr. Liu is not only a very knowledgeable and highly respected physician, she also has a big heart for her patients. She always take time to listen to your questions and concerns so patiently, then gives you clear, precise and very professional medical advice in a plain language. Adopting a quite proactive approach to take care of her patients, is her medical practice style. She is not there for you only when you get a problem with your health, or when you need some prescriptions,or need to be referred to some specialists. She is there for you, to advise you how to take the next steps of work-out; to recommend you a better dietary; or, to remind you, what are the necessary vaccines you’ll need, and when is the best time to take them....... . You know that Dr. Liu is constantly… trying her best from every side, working together with you, to push your overall health to the best possible stage. You feel you are treated as a good friend, a family member. Besides getting a reminder call for you upcoming office visit, you could even receive an invitation to join the ”Walk for Wellness “ next weekend organized by Dr.Liu’s office! Her office is always kept tidy and clean. Her staff are very helpful, friendly and professional. While offering medical services, there is always a smile on their face. I’ll have to admit that it feels good and comfortable, when you can be confident that your health is in the good hands of Dr. Joy Liu. I think, maybe that’s why she gives her medical program the name as “Healthy Living Primary Care”.

My mother, 91, had been chronically ill for a couple of decades, seeing many physicians and specialists; without successfully curing her symptoms. After two years with Dr. Liu, she is healthier than many people half her age. Dr. Liu is a very caring, concerned, and committed physician, who actually listens to her patients, and acts accordingly. One is in very good hands when being treated by her.

I have been a patient of Dr. Liu for many years and find her to be caring, so knowledgeable and always eager to involve her patient in the treatment plan. She is a doctor that actually spends time with yo)u; she encourages and answers your questions. She not only takes care of your medical issues, she takes interest in your personal issues/life (if you want to share). The Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners are the best around. Her office staff are also the best I've ever encountered in a doctor's office. (You can tell a lot about a doctor just by how the office staff is. Happy Staff = Good Doctor! The wait time is also excellent. Most times, they call for you before you even get settled into the waiting room. I highly recommend Dr. Liu!

I have been a patient of Dr. Liu's for several years. And I have been seen by many doctors over the years and I would have to say Dr. Joy Liu is by far one of the best, if not the best I have had the pleasure of visiting. She truly cares about her patients! She does everything in her power to see your medical needs and concerns are met. Dr Liu is very thorough too. She takes notes on her laptop while she's in the room with you (making sure nothing is erroneously left out) yet never missing a word you're saying. She is always attentive to what your concerns are, even special ones. And on such occasions, few as they may be, I have never felt rushed or hurried. (As one would imagine, this sometimes calls for more time than usual, but when I have been the one having to wait a little longer to see her, I understand and don't feel neglected or put off, because I know the patient she is with is getting the same loving care that she has given to me. Just what I want to see in my doctor!) And… when something comes up between my scheduled appointments, I don't feel that precious time is being lost. I can send her a message on Patient Portal -- anytime of day or night or weekend, including holidays as well -- knowing I'll get a prompt response as soon as the office is open. If there are urgent matters that need immediate answers, I can also call her on the phone. And if that's not enough, this isn't a way street. There has been occasions when Dr. Liu felt she needed to contact me urgently. At such times she has had an assistant call me at home, or even she herself has does so a couple of times. I just can't say enough good things about her and the way she runs her office. In fact, I can't think of one slightly negative thing to say about her, or for that matter, any of her staff. In my opinion, Dr. Liu and her entire office is what others should strive to measure up to.

You only see an actual doctor when you're a new patient. After that you see PA's. They never answer their phones.

What a delight to visit a doctor's office so professionally organized that I had very little waiting time. I found the staff to be very courteous. This was my first visit but when I saw Dr. Liu she had my medical record in hand and reviewed it with me which made me feel she really was interested in my health issues and wanting to help me find relief for ongoing pain. She has ordered a complete blood panel and a MRI, and scheduled two followup appointments to discuss results. I have not had such excellent care in a long time. I am very impressed !

Dedicated stuff. Up to date technologies. Health information for all ages is available everywhere while you are waiting. I feel that I can trust my health and the health of my children to Dr. Joy Liu! She is very caring, knowledgeable and organized. I give her my highest recommendations!
