I’m sharing this not to steer anyone away, but so future patients know what I wish I had known — and ask the questions I didn’t think to ask. I had a hemorrhoidectomy. Before surgery, I was told it would be painful, with a small risk of infection. During that pre-op appointment, she also took a call from her contractor — at the time I didn’t mind, but in hindsight it was part of a pattern. I wish I’d pushed for more information: the full list of possible complications, a realistic recovery timeline, etc. My recovery was not normal. I had severe pain and urinary retention. When I called the office, staff told me it was all normal and wouldn’t let me speak with the doctor. After days of being unable to urinate or eat, I used the emergency line. The doctor told me over the phone that I was impacted and needed another surgery — and yelled at me for not calling sooner, even though I had been calling repeatedly. She then quizzed me about who I had spoken to at the office. I told her I didn’t… think I could be impacted since I hadn’t eaten in days, but she insisted. The second surgery confirmed I was not impacted. Because I had been on NSAIDs, I was severely bruised from a procedure I didn’t need. After that, my pain was repeatedly dismissed as low pain tolerance. It wasn’t… I was spasming, and a stricture had developed that went undiagnosed. Throughout recovery, she was dismissive and rude any time I raised concerns. I eventually saw another surgeon who diagnosed the stricture and performed five dilation procedures to correct it. I’m now doing better but will never be normal, I’ll need medication for the rest of my life to use the bathroom normally. If you’re considering this surgery, and this surgeon please ask: What are all the possible complications, not just infection? What does a difficult recovery actually look like? If the office says something is ‘normal,’ how do I escalate to the doctor directly? Trust your instincts about your own body — I wish I had trusted mine sooner.

Be prepated to wait over an hour in a very small yet crowded waiting room. Be prepared to jump through hoops before she actually attempts to try to fix anything for you. Her solutions were counter intuitive to what my goals were, shes an absolute clown.

Dr Lorber really made me feel comfortable and explained everything. I told her I was so scared and she made me feel so calm. Had my procedure and let me tell you everything went perfect. When I woke up from surgery she was there to comfort me. She knew how scared I was. I would recommend her 100 per cent. She makes you feel relaxed and talks you through your emotions.

Dr. Lorber was kind, thorough and very personable. She asked me what the problem was and she paid attention while I described the details of my problem. I was heartened that after viewing the hemorrhoid, she said she would take care of it immediately. Took her about 5 minutes for the complete procedure and the mental and physical relief was/is very satisfying. I highly recommend her. BTW the staff was excellent as well.

Dr. Lorber is the best colorectal doctor out there. She came highly recommended by my nurse practitioner and I can totally see why. Kind, friendly, gentle, funny, and brilliantly smart - she's the whole package. Many thanks to her and her fabulous office staff for such a great visit. I feel so taken care of.

I always tell Dr. Lorber that she is my favorite doctor but I hate seeing her due to the nature of the problem. Dr. Lorber is kind and caring, thorough and a true professional. I trust her whole heartedly and would recommend her to anyone suffering with these types of problems.

I went to this doctor on the recommendation of my trusted physician. I had high hopes. I was seen one hour after my appointment time. The doctor arrived late to the office looking like she just rolled out of bed and glared at the patients in the waiting room. The doctor took a personal phone call ( non emergency....to a contractor) during my appointment without excusing herself from the room. The doctor had a very flat demeanor and seemed aggravated. The doctor disparaged three other patients while I was there. Perhaps it was a bad day, but I am looking for health CARE and it didn’t seem like that would be possible with this person. The office staff, however, seemed nice and attentive.

simply the best doctors office I've ever been to in my life. well run, excellent and friendly staff, and dr Lorber makes the most difficult matters easy to discuss and understand. she is a gem.

I have never met someone who cares more for her patients than Doctor Lorber.She brings a human side to practice that will make you feel at ease. She is also a great surgeon who performed a couple of operations on me with no complications. She has made a difference in my life....
