Dr. Justin Thomas Sawyer

A very bad experience. Front desk staff was rude and the doctor was very abrupt. Had no time to answer any questions.

I have been a patient at this medical facility for several years. I scheduled my yearly appointment the last time I was in. My wife and I arrived today for our appointments on time. When it came time for me to go in, they told me they cannot coordinate my insurance and they would not see me. My PPO has not changed but I have now been on Medicare since my last birthday. I was very upset as I have a very suspect spot on my back that needs immediate attention. I offered to pay for my appointment as well and I was upset and told them that as a professional office staff they should know how to coordinate Medicare benefits with my additional benefits. I was told I should’ve called them to tell them I was now on Medicare. I have not been told that by any other doctor that I deal with. I also offered to pay for today’s appointment but in my opinion they merely wanted to dismiss me and go home since they said they were closing in 15 minutes for lunch and could not get me in before the next… appointment and then put a closed sign on the door. I cannot believe I was treated with such unprofessional behavior. I was on the phone at a time with a client who had called and he made a comment about what a nasty person the office personnel was who I was dealing with. I drive an hour to come and see Dr Sawyer at his office because I know he is a very good doctor however I will not be coming back because of his office staff and the rude way I was treated. I sincerely hope that I do not have a serious skin condition that needed his immediate attention.

Dr Sawyer is always very friendly. He does thorough examinations and listens to my input. I am very comfortable with him. The medical assistants are always helpful and friendly.

The soonest appointment was three weeks out, a few days before they cancelled the appointment and re-scheduled it. I showed up early like I was asked to and filled out the paperwork only to be kept waiting for almost an hour after my appointment time. Then I was told I still wasn't going to be seen for at least another 20 minutes. Maybe this doctor missed the time management class in medical school. I don't know if he is a good doctor however he can't manage time at all. So if you work, just call off the rest of the day.

Alta Dermatology is professional and efficient and Dr. Sawyer delivers reasonable, quality care. In my opinion however, the practice overall has staff that are not personable nor patient oriented. I was a patient there for 7 years and found it to be very "business" focused. They have policies that are staff oriented, not patient centered. It's all about making things convenient and beneficial for them, as opposed to for the patient. I called to tell them that I was running late for my last appointment and upon my arrival I was told that I would need to reschedule my appointment. I was exactly 10 minutes late! I had never been late nor missed an appointment in 7 years. I will never go back. Like I said, it's all about them, not all about you the patient.

It took 3 weeks to get an appointment. Arrived 30 minutes before like I was instructed. The front desk staff were very loud and gossipy, but friendly. From the time I arrived to the time I was taken back was 1 hour 10 minutes. Male nurse that took me back was very unfriendly, had kind of a "don't give a care" attitude. Sat in exam room about 10 minutes, Dr. Sawyer came in looked at my issue less than 3 seconds and was getting ready to walk out - I had to stop him about 3 times to get him to come back to me to look at other issues I had. Once again about 3 seconds per look said I was fine. I asked him about an acne boil on my face and he said its fine it would give me some topical antibotics for it and then left the room - maybe in there with me a total of 5 minutes. Then the male nurse gave me the antibotic and I left. So $40 out of my pocket for 5 minutes of work and who knows how much my ins. co. will pay him.

Dr. Sawyer is an excellent Dermatologist! I highly recommend him!

I am seeing several Doctors right now for various issues; and I must say that Dr. Sawyer ranks up there at the top. He is an Excellent doctor and he is patient and listens to me. The office is clean and all of the staff is very friendly. I have not run across a rude office worker or nurse / assistant yet. I highly recommend Dr. Sawyer to anyone who needs Dermatology.
