Dr. Kaiyu Ma, MD

My visit with Dr. Ma was the most dehumanizing experience I have ever had in a doctor’s office. She refused to listen to my history of insomnia, which was long and varied, treated me as if I was ignorant of the most basic sleep hygiene, and diagnosed me immediately with very little information. She told me since I wasn’t sleepy all day that my extreme fatigue was not due to lack of sleep but to something else. A brief look at WebMD when I got home stated otherwise: many with insomnia are not sleepy but are exhausted. There are some sleep disorders that make you sleepy but not all. I cried in the office because I felt both stupid and dehumanized. I waited 2 months for an appointment and I am not going back.

I was referred to dr ma because I have always suspected that I have ADD and wanted to be diagnosed. She confirmed the diagnosis after some questions for me and my dad. She actually stopped paying attention to me in the middle of the interview to ask my dad him why his hands were shaking so bad. Like, I know she's a neurologist and thats something of concern but dont just ignore me and my concerns, at least finish my appointment first! Anyway she prescribed me bupropion and said that some side effects were agitation, appetite loss, and sleep problems. Those are the only side effects she told me about and after a 5 minute appointment with her I was out. Not at all what I was expecting from a neurology appointment but I figured maybe my expectations were too high? I got my prescription and I felt that going from no medication like that at all in my system to 100mg a day and then after just 5 days go up to 200mg was way too much. I started having some side effects other than what she… described which I read were very common and she should have told me. This being tinnitus and random abdominal pain. After calling and asking to speak with her I never had a call back. I was scheduled to see her again after 3 months but due to bad weather I couldn't make it. So Ive been with this medicine for almost 7 months with little to no guidance. And because it was already in my system I couldn't just quit cold turkey. I just feel like she wanted me in and out, gave me something to satisfy me and sent me on my way. Im supposed to see her soon and im dreading it. After reading other reviews of her, I wish I had asked to be referred to a different doctor. TLDR; had me in and out, short interview, gave me a prescription without fully discussing the side effects with me. No word from her in these months, all the information that ive gotten to help me is from the internet. Also I was prescribed, without telling me, vitamin b12 injections. No call, no email, I only found out when my pharmacist said I had a new prescription. Wth?? So disappointed

Saw Dr. Ma today at Crystal Run after 4 month wait, for her supposed expertise in sleep medicine. Oi! She is not an expert at all! What a horror! As others have remarked, she has no comprehension of endogenous disease, and insists the problem is just from bad habits/imaginary. Her interview of me lasted 5 minutes, was completely superficial, and clearly showed no grasp of chronic neurological or endocrine disorders.

Dr Ma does not care about her patients !! She’s in and out of the room in less than 5 minutes and communion with her and her nurses are THE WORST!!!!!! Do not waste your time!!!!!!!!!

See some older tough reviews, but Dr. Ma seems to care. She makes sure my health is good for the medicine prescribed and is OK to change if things not going well. I have definitely improved.

Challenge to schedule a timely appointment. Neither she or her office are responsive. Communication can at times be difficult. Question her commitment to patients

I made the appointment for my daughter Paulina, who has been suffering with migraines for a long time. I thought that Dr, Ma was not thorough at all, and did not take the time to discuss anything with my daughter about her health condition. She seemed like she did not care!

Dr. Ma is very smart, figured my problem quickly, it had been mystery for more than 20 years

Beware. Do not waste your time going to her. She does not order the correct tests and misdiagnose you. She acts like she does not care about her patients. Due to her misdiagnosis and the time to get a new doctor resulted me to have some irreversible damage. Dr Ma said it was all in my head. I have diagnostic tests proving her wrong and have to adjust my life to the deficit from the damage.

She is horrible will never refer a friend or enemy to her she doesn't explain anything to you she request scans and procedures but doesn't inform you she loves to just throw medicine at you and say I will see you in a week but doesn't call and follow up in a couple days I will never allow her to come treat me ever again.
