I was referred to this pain mgmt office by my surgeon. At my first appointment, I was given prescriptions for lorzone and diclofenac. Fine, but I take blood thinner (which the dr's office should have in my chart as they took my medical history during the appointment) so I could not take the diclofenac. They switched to gabapentin which I have been taking as prescribed and it has helped to a degree. I had a follow up visit scheduled which the doctor's office called to cancel and reschedule, which I was glad to do. In the meantime, I requested a refill on the gabapentin from my pharmacy. The doctor's office did not approve the refill claiming that I needed to make a follow up visit (you know the one they made me reschedule) because the gabapentin is a controlled substance (there is some discrepancy on this) so anyway, I called the office to see if I could be seen sooner as I am awaiting surgery and my pain is drastic. Great news, they agreed to see me the next day at 2:30. Later… that afternoon, I received a confirmation text with my appointment for 1:30.....wrong. Finally, I go to the office for my appointment and guess what? They are not at the address they confirmed. I now had to travel to the Park Ave. location. Here, I was given the refill for the gabapentin and I did ask for something possibly stronger (mind you, in all this time, I have not asked for any type of controlled substance). They also prescribed for me another anti inflammatory (again the whole blood thinner issue comes into play). I can't understand the ineptitude. Why would you continue to prescribe anti inflammatories to someone on blood thinner? Why would you not approve the refill when an appointment was clearly made? Why would you not offer something different if there is no improvement with what the patient is alreay taking. Lastly, they were happy to offer medical marijuana....

I have seen pain management specialists periodically since the 1990’s. Fate must have been on my side when I met Dr Johar in 2015 following spine surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. I immediately found him to be an extremely caring physician who listens to his patient, clearly describes his intended treatment plan and subsequently allows his patient to ask questions without making them feel rushed or like ther are bothering him. I have had interventional procedures performed by Dr Johar over the past several years along with trigger point injections. I can say with a high level of knowledge through numerous prior experiences that Dr Johar is second to none in regard to his ability to administer needles not only in the exact location necessary, but in the least painful manner possible. Dr Johar is a pain management doctor I would recommend, (and have recommended to people I know), as a number one choice for pain management in the New York City area.

Was able to diagnose a complex nerve issue that other orthopedists have missed. Extensive and comprehensive plan and took 35 minutes explaining everything to make me comfortable. 5-stars!
