Dr. Katharine Higgins Taber, MD

I saw Dr. Taber because I needed a second opinion on painful periods. Dr. Taber was recommended to me by a friend who said she was really nice. I will say that she is nice; however, she is not a good listener and thinks she knows your body better than you know your own. She suggested a remedy for me that kept me in constant pain (IUD placement, not her fault that my body didn't like it). When I told her it gave me terrible pain, she would not believe me and insisted that the pain was from an ovarian cyst, which I knew it was not bc I always have ovarian cysts and they never hurt. It took about 2-3 week for me to convince her to take it out. After it was removed, the pain stopped and she still wouldn't admit that it was the iud giving me pain. Fast forward, I saw another specialist who did laparoscopic surgery to diagnose me with Stage IV Endometriosis. Dr. Taber never suggested endo to me, never offered any additional remedies for pain besides birth control. Just an overall poor… experience. I never mentioned to her that I have a masters degree and am a working professional, so she talked to me like a young idiot who didn't know anything. I would recommend her only if your reproductive system functions properly. If you're having problems, see someone else.

Dr Taber was very abrupt when she talked to me about my current situation. I don't think she thought it thru how she presented her opinion and I got really upset, she told me as she was rushing to leave the country for vacation. What doctor in her right mind, spits out a diagnosis before doing more testing. And because of my lack of ability to pay and minimal insurance coverage, she refused to help me. She dumped me off like some piece of trash to the local health department. Of course I freaked out and was a mess after that. Thank God I could drive myself home without crashing after the experience I had. Her bedside manner is terrible. I wouldn't recommend going to her. What a screwball!

I had a rare issue that required emergency surgery and Dr. Taber was excellent in diagnosing the problem and creating a team to help make the surgery a success. She was very caring, thorough, explained things well, and called me a few times at home to check up on me. I highly recommend her.
