I went to her office and the Doctor and manager was just plain RUDE. Made a comment to me pay before the service or you will SKIP TOWN. I was insulted in every possible way. Please do not go to her, Both the Doctor is rude and the office manager. I could not believe that was said to me. By the way I have Dental Insurance. I went to Dr Jeffery Javelet in La Jolla on Fay Ave.the same day, AND HE WAS JUST SO AMAZING. SKIP TOWN, Wow that was just plain insult bad English and Bad Manners. They talk to me like I was some scum human being, I was dress cute from work, drive a VERY nice BMW, owner of house ect. Have 4 Attorneys in my family and your telling me… I am going to skip town all because I wanted to use a AMEX after the insurance that I did not have on me at the time. I offer to call her with the number as soon as I get home, Doctor Katherine Thompson said, NO you will SKIP TOWN. WOW - Really. Can a Doctor say this? Dr. Thompson there are better and more elegant ways to communicate this. The Doctor wanted me to drive all the way home which is downtown SD drive back with traffic all because both the office manager Debi and Dr. Thom pson said, YOU WILL PROBABLY SKIP TOWN, GO HOME GET YOUR AMEX. Rude. Beware of the rudeness from this Doctor, I wrote another review about her on healthgrade.com, it is more in detail. But, overall is was pretty bad treatment. I walk out and NO ONE human being especially a Doctor should talk to a patient like this. I went to another DR. Javelet and IS WAS SO NICE, SO PROFESSIONAL AND HE CARED. Dr. Thompson is a fantastic doctor. She is smart, she listens, she is down to earth, and she is practical. Most of all, she knows her stuff and she gives all she has to her patients, young and old. Wonderful person and physician.

If you're looking to be coddled and praised, she is not your doctor. If you are looking for a really good dermatologist with a great sense of humor, then Dr. Thompson fits the bill. My only real complaint is that I have sometimes waited up to an hour after my scheduled appointment and was on the verge of leaving when I was called back.

Very uncaring as to nose biopsy of cancer

"Rude" and "dismissive" are barely the tip of the iceberg to describe this doctor's ill-tempered attitude and arrogance!!!!! She's an incredibly poor listener and quick to rash judgement. I was seeing her for very itchy skin and what I thought was rosacea on my face. In a very angry tone she told me to stop scratching and then proceeded to take a long Q-tip stick and strike it back and forth across my back which ended up breaking my skin and leaving open abrasions. She then over and over told me I had "ruined my skin" as though she wanted to divert the attention off the injury she caused me. After that fiasco, she looked at my face and said, "well, I guess you do have rosacea". She began poking me all over my face with her index finger and said, "don't put the medicine on like this". Her staff didn't seem at all surprised when I refused my follow-up appointment. If I had the option to give her zero stars for her rating I would!

I took my daughter to her for a mole check and she was rude and dismissive. She even told my daughter " you are NOT allowed to go in the sun unless you are fully covered". Really? She's a teenager, we do take as much precaution as possible but are not going to not enjoy the outdoors just because she has red hair and fair skin.
