Dr. Katya Gerwein, MD

If I could give zero stars, I would. This doctor does not have the best interest of her patients at heart. She enjoys playing God and it shows. There are many other options for pediatricians at Bayside, choose one of them.

Dr. Gerwein is a terrible pediatrician with an ENORMOUS ego. I don’t understand her popularity. As others have stated she is scattered and unfocused when talking to her patients. My son will not be seeing her again.

Dr Gerwein was really there for us as we navigated being new parents. Helping us figure out everything from breastfeeding, to vaccines (to get? to space them?), to infections, sleeping problems... Looking back I can only feel grateful for how kind and gracious she was to two nervous new parents with a million questions! I also appreciated the bubbles and how she gave shots herself -- truly unique! Dr Gerwein made such a huge difference in our lives at such a critical time, and I will always be thankful!

Dr. Gerwein came highly recommend to us by a friend, but I found her to be scattered and judgmental. She has an ego and is very full of herself until you question what she is recommending.

She is quick to give advice before learning the basics of the conditions. This seems to be a dangerous stance for someone with the power to prescribe medications and administer treatment.

From checking in with us on her day off to clearly delighting in our little boy, Katya shows has a great bedside manner and cares. She has cleared up all our boy's problems and helped us get through all sorts of stuff beyond her direct responsibility, from helping to get appointments with specialists to spending a lot of time talking about breastfeeding. Can't recommend her highly enough. Bayside's Oakland office desperately needs renovation -- or at least some paint -- but that is the only thing that's less than super duper.
