Dr. Krishnamurthy Shivshanker

I have not seen Dr. Shivshanker for years due to the fact I moved out of state 20 years ago. Prior to that, I was his patient for about 12 years. I was referred to him by my PCP and 'fell in love' with him as a doctor from the very first visit. There were several times I had to be hospitalized and or his associate checked on me daily. When I had questions, he had answers, and always offered in patient-speak rather than medical vernacular. Thankfully I've been okay since I last saw him because I don't know if I could find another like him.

I've never had a doctor who refuses to return messages after more than a week. I was calling every day, eventually twice a day and never received a callback. I explained the urgency and still nothing. After multiple calls over 4 days, I was told "he is behind on returning calls and will get to you later". In addition, he ordered a CT scan and 13 days later, he has not bothered to call about results (which I was able to see in the hospital's portal). I don't know if the problem is with Dr Shivshanker or the office staff, but I suspect it's both. I could go on and on, but bottom line is stay away.

I don't go to a doctor for their bedside manner. I don't go to a doctor to give money I don't have. After seeing dozens of doctors and being misdiagnosed and being pushed in every which direction... This specialist was the worst.... 2 1/2 years after doing everything I can to find an answer I finally had my gallbladder removed due to large gallstones which were produced due to my pregnancy. Being 21 at the time, I was always the youngest person in the waiting area and scared that something more serious was going on considering how young I was. I still had severe symptoms that restricted my everyday life activities, including taking care of my infant son. After meeting with Shivshanker, I noticed he never shook my hand or looked me in the eye more than once. He spoke to me, like a lot of doctors, like I was faking the pain or making up some reason for being there. He issued an ERCP procedure which led to my admission to the ER approximately 13-14 hours later. I ended up getting… Pancreatitis. Later I developed Primary Billiary Cirrhosis. I was hospitalized for a week and missed school and almost dismissed from the program. I don't blame this doctor for everything that was affected by this traumatic time, but I can't get back my health. What's the worst is this doctor or anyone from his practice never called to check up on me. I hope no one else had to go through an ordeal such as this.

Dr. Shivshanker is a good doctor - but does not care about how long his patients wait. Seems he double books all appointments. Today we waited an hour just for vitals and then staff refused to answer any questions on how much longer. We have waited 2 hours in the past and an hour another appointment. He has NO respect for his patient's time. We will not be back.

Very difficult to get with doctor, waited 1 hour on hold, long wait times after arriving on time for scheduled appointment, no response from doctor for 72hours after procedure. Bless their hearts, they are so busy they cant keep up with the volume of patients. Doctor was not polite and didn't listen to my needs as a patient and was rushed when I finally got to speak to him. Office also said they dont get messages from their answering service. They are only avail by phone from 9AM to 4PM then you get answering service for this location.

Dr. Shivshanker is the best Liver specialist I have ever been He cares very much about his patients and gives them the best of care

Excellent Doctor with great communication skills

As long as there are no problems, you seem to get good medical care here. However, if they ever make a mistake, you get no answers, tossed from person to person, the "I don't know what happened", and put off for an indefinite amount of time. After 1 1/2 weeks of waiting for a call from the doctor (which I was told I was to get the next day), I finally got disgusted and requested my records be transferred to another physician. I am beyond disgusted with the level of care I received.

Have had 3 colonoscopies from Dr Shivshanker, and have had benign polyps removed. Thoroughly satisfied with the procedure.
