Laura Gaffney, MD, is an internist and pediatrician who focuses much of her patient care on adults with special needs. In addition to direct patient care, she is the medical director of AdventHealth Medical Group's Special Pediatric-to-Adult Need (SPAN) program. SPAN is Greater Kansas City’s only primary care program that provides comprehensive, patient-focused care for adults with a chronic condition that persists from childhood to adulthood. Dr. Gaffney has been providing care for adults with special needs since 1996. With dual Board certifications in pediatrics and internal medicine, she is uniquely qualified to provide specialized care for patients of all ages. She earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency. She has been with AdventHealth Medical Group (formerly Shawnee Mission Physicians Group) since 1997, during which time she has earned numerous honors for excellence in patient care.
