My mother and I were told that our Dr., whom we are quite satisfied with, was on leave. So we went to Dr. Lily Do at Pathway Medical who was obviously taking our Dr.'s patients. My 91-year-old mother was having a lot of sleep problems. We told her we needed a sleeping pill. Dr. Do wanted to put her on Trazodone. I was hesitant about that drug because of being on it myself. So she gave her a prescription for Restoril. I went to the pharmacy at about 8pm to fill it. But they couldn't because Dr. Do put the wrong mg on there. She wrote 10mg but the pills don't come in 10mg. Since it was after hours they couldn't call her. My mother had to go without sleep another night. Finally it was filled the next day. I found out that Restoril is actually Tamazipam - a benzodiazepine. Benzos are notorious for giving you memory problems, something my aging mother doesn't need. But that's all we had so she tried it one night. She was restless and seemed to be having a bit of hallucination (which they warn you about on the instructions). So I called and said let's try the Trazodone. We got the prescription. My mother has problems with high blood pressure and is on two BP meds. The Trazodone caused her BP to spike. So the next morning I told the nurse this. Dr. Do then prescribe Hydroxyzine. I looked this up on WebMD and found its nothing more then an antihistamine and in the precautions it said, "Tell your Dr. if you have high blood pressure." I called again and Dr. Do said that IF my mother had a problem with her BP on this pill to come in to adjust her BP meds. I could not believe this!! And I wondered if she even looked at her chart. My mother has a LONG history of BP problems and she's 91 and almost every event with her BP lands her in the ER. Our last Dr. wouldn't even touch her BP meds but sent her to a Cardiologist. Why would she want to experiment with her BP like that?! How irresponsible! We will not go back to her and are searching for another Dr.
Wrote me a prescription and never told me she was lowering the dosage amount. When I called the Dr.'s office she had the secretary lie about what she told me. She is hard to understand and I think she went to some dumb school for her doctorate because she should not even be able to practice in Tijuana!
If I could find a way to give Zero stars, I would. This Dr. Do is the worst kind of physician. Disrespectful, rude, doesn't listen, doesn't care. On my first intake visit (I saw her at South Bay Family Healthcare in Redondo Beach), I had not been able to see a doctor for several months due to lack of insurance coverage. Dr. Do was extremely late coming in to see me, and I sat in her exam room for more than 30 minutes, having waited in the lobby for another 30 minutes. Even before being checked in, there were unnecessary hassles about my insurance eligibility. Someone finally took pity on me (after I pleaded for help) and made the necessary calls to straighten out the red tape. When I did finally see Dr. Do in person, she would not listen to me, and was completely uninterested in my history. She rushed me through the appointment, not even looking at me ONCE. She was rude and hot tempered, telling me that my list of issues which I needed to be helped with were "too many problems" and that she would only deal with one today, saying I would have to come back separately for each issue!!! When I tried to schedule my second visit, (which took a full three weeks to get), I was again told by the office staff that I was not a patient of So. Bay Family Healthcare, and that I was not eligible to be so (even though I had been there before!) I spent many hours on the phone with my insurance straightening this out and trying to get So. Bay Healthcare to recognize that I was indeed a patient of Dr. Do. FINALLY, after three weeks, I get a call early ON THE MORNING OF MY APPOINTMENT, leaving a message and telling me that my appointment was cancelled. No attempt to reschedule was made. When I called the office, no one answered the phone (no one EVER answers the phone there) and I spent many minutes in a go round with endless and unfruitful voicemail menu options. Unwilling to give up, I finally reached someone at the office, telling them I could not wait another three weeks to be seen. I was told that my appointment had been cancelled because DR. DO WAS LEAVING THE OFFICE EARLY TODAY!! So, she just decides she wants to get out of the office early on a Friday, cancels her appointments without a care for her patients who need to be seen, and makes no attempt to reschedule. FINALLY, eleven days ago I did get to see Dr. Do. After having to beg her to help me, she told me that she would send my prescription (which I had been without for a week due to inability to get an appointment) into my pharmacy. NOTHING HAPPENED. NO PRESCRIPTION WAS SENT. I called and called the office, only to be frustrated once again, as no one answers the phones at So. Bay Healthcare and no one returns calls after many messages left. FULLY TEN DAYS LATER, I was still trying to find out why Dr. Do had not followed up on her orders for me. I was eventually able to get hold of a very rude staff member who told me "Dr. didn't order any medication". At this point I pretty much went ballistic. The staff member put me on hold again and returned 5 minutes later, saying, "we just electronically sent the Rx to the pharmacy". When I asked what had happened, I was told, "sometimes we send the prescriptions and they don't go through". NONSENSE!! When I tried to verify that they had the correct pharmacy on file, the staff member (Cecilia) HUNG UP ON ME. I have a very strong suspicion that what actually happened was this Dr. Do FAILED TO ORDER my Rx in the chart, and the staff member had to go and call it to her attention while I waited on the phone, (fully ten days later). Then I was lied to about the situation to cover Dr. Do's incompetence. So I suspect. I have never encountered a physician like this Dr. Do. And South Bay Family Healthcare is inefficient, slow and almost impossible to contact on a person-to-person basis. Appointments are not available in a timely manner. Dr. Do should be fired. I cannot be the only patient who has suffered substandard care at her uncaring and incompetent hands.
My mother recently went to SBFHC for a regular checkup and was seen by Dr Do. Her experience was horrid. Dr. Do was incredibly rude, hot tempered, and dismissive. She completely rushed the check up and pretty much yelled at my mother because she was "asking too much". After the appt, my mother was talking to the staff and Dr. Do ran out twice to tell her the appt was over and to leave. Disgustingly unprofessional behavior from a doctor. I'm absolutely shocked that someone like this is in charge of another person's health.
