Dr. Mark Alan Johnson, MD

Having had many surgeries over the years and dealt with numerous doctors, Mark Johnson is the most down to earth and easy to talk to doctors I've ever come across. He explains everything in easy to understand terms, leaving you with a comfortable feeling and peace with his ability to "have your live in his hands on the operating table." Top notch doc!

I would be very wary of this doctor. I have a hernia and Dr. Johnson said more than once it needed to be repaired. However, when Dr. Johnson found out that I live with severe chronic pain and am on several pain medications he and his nurse became so fixated on that that the hernia became a non-issue. He based his treatment of me on a bad experience with a patient 3 years ago. He discussed my pain medications with my pain specialist and although my pain specialist assured him that prescribing pain medication after surgery would not be a problem, Dr. Johnson chose to ignore that conversation and reverted back to his experience with the prior patient. Dr. Johnson stated on more than one occasion that I may want to cancel surgery. From those conversations and messages left on my answering machine, I came to the conclusion that Dr. Johnson and his nurse believe that because I live with chronic pain and am being treated on a monthly basis by a board-certified pain specialist I am not… allowed to have any other medical conditions that require surgery and treatment for pain after surgery. I felt like I was being harassed by both Dr. Johnson and his nurse and after discussing the issue of pain medication no less than 5-6 times I finally cancelled surgery. I'm sure Dr. Johnson is probably a good surgeon, but because of the lack of concern over the hernia and his fixation on what should have been a non-issue, I lost faith in his ability to perform surgery on me and stay focused on the reason I saw him in the first place. I would think long and hard before you allow him to perform surgery. If I could give him less than 1 star I would.

Dr. Johnson is a great doctor. I would highly recommend him to anyone that needed surgery. He's kind, patient, a good listener, and has an excellent bedside manner. 5 big stars!

Dr. Johnson has been the best, kindest, and most understanding Doctor. My mother needed immediate attentio after seeing her regular Doctor. Dr. Johnson was closing down for the day and he took his time to re-open and assist my mother and if he hadn't and we had waited another 24 hrs, my mother could have passed. I am forever thankful.. I wish I knew what his interest and likes were so I could thank him more!

Dr. Johnson explained my upcoming surgery very well and answered all my questions. He is very experienced in hernia surgeries such as mine and was one of the first to use the robot system. His minimally invasive technique minimizes infection risk and surgical trauma. The surgery went very smoothly and I had a quick recovery with little discomfort. Thanks to Dr. Johnson everything went near perfectly.

I had a gallbladder removed from Dr. Johnson and his quality of care was excellent. I felt comfortable and was feeling great in about a week. He was more than willing to answer any questions I had and would return to him if I need any other surgery. Highly recommend
