Dr. Mark Edward Hospodar, MD

I had scheduled an appointment with the staff, Took a month to get an appointment, Went to the address the staff gave me and when I arrived they told me the doctor was not there he must be at another location. i drove to the other location only to be told by this staff member that I could not see him because he was not at this site either. They wanted me to wait another month and a half to see the doctor. Staff was rude and acted like it was my fault I did not have the right place. I was told he was a great doctor but with staff like that working for him I wonder. I worked for doctors for 25 years and never in all that time did I treat a patient like I was treated. They could of given me the correct address and if I was late they could have called the office where he was and told them I was given the wrong address and sent me on my way to see the doctor.

He was a very demeaning and passive aggressive physician. I went for a medical opinion and care, and the way he spoke to me truly hurt. He made me feel unheard. I hope this hospital St. Clair he is employed at addresses him and his disrespect of patients

Good Doctor/ Horrifying Staff

Although Dr Hospodar is a good neurologist, his office & medical support staff are THE WORST. Run - your welcome.

He is unprofessional, distracted and rushed my appt bc he wanted to speak to a pharmaceutical rep before they left. Won’t be going back. Also - no privacy! Door is kept open to his office the entire visit so that staff can bring him paperwork about OTHER patients. There are way too many options out there for anyone to settle for this.

While in St. Clair hospital, Dr. Hospodar was the neurologist assigned to my case. I was admitted because I had a stroke-like episode the night before. There was a LONG medical history that he neglected to review and the information he did review was not relevant. He asked a couple questions and was in my room for about 3 minutes tops. When he came in, he was texting a friend a picture that he took that he showed us. He was the most unprofessional doctor I've ever met. Due to an unrelated illness, I had an MRI done 2 days before my episode. Dr. Hospodar told my husband and me that he reviewed my MRI and it looked good. When we told him that particular MRI was from 2 days before this happened, he repeated that it "looked fine" and that he had enough information. He asked me to read the paper to him, which I couldn't without a stutter and then told me it was ALL stress and there was nothing he could do. I came into the ER on stroke alert because I couldn't remember my birthday or… what month it was, then lost my speech completely for 6 hours, had no peripheral vision and severe dizziness and this guy comes in the next day and looks at an MRI from 3 day prior and says its all from stress. So of course I call for a second opinion and after talking a different neurology department, BOTH of the neurologist there couldn't believe he would make such a ridiculous statement. So, with the help of the wonderful general doctor at St Clair she took a VERY thorough history and listened to what happened the night before and said it sounded like it was migraine related. I never knew a migraine could do that, but I had a migraine that night, so it made sense. I made an appointment to see the new neurologist, but before I could see him, another (less severe, but similar) episode occurred. He agreed with the diagnosis of migraine and was very professional when listening to my story about Dr. Hospodar's comments in the hospital, but said, "I'm VERY glad you came to us." Upon telling a friend of mine of my experience, she asked which doctor it was. I couldn't remember his name, but said it began with an "H". She said, "Was it Hospodar?" When I said yes, she said, "Oh yeah, he's AWFUL. My husband had a similar experience with him." Apparently he is known throughout St. Clair hospital as being dismissive and unprofessional.

Dr. Hospodar has been my Doctor for 9 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else! He spends time with his patients, answers all questions, keeps you up to date on new medications available, etc. His office had administration problems in the past but has been running smoothly for the past year or so. I have been there for various issues and he has always been helpful and able to give me the care needed.

My husband and I were Looking for a 2nd opinion and made an appt, We traveled a 1/2 hour to get there. Since he had seen me before and sent me else where, I quess he thought I wasn't worth seeing again when he found out who I was. So when the nurse told him who was in the waiting room, she came back and told us he had left for the day. His last patient had walked out only 2 minutes earlier. All we wanted was a second opinion. We were extremely offended. We will never return to him. Totally unprofessional.

I tried calling for an appointment for (3) three days. The recoded message is horrible, not even identifying the office and not leaving me with the option of leaving a message. I finally was able to reach someone who was pretty rude. I am in the process of changing doctors. They need to be more available and have a more caring staff.

I have been Dr. Hospodars patient for over 14 years, I have not one complaint about anything, not him, not staff not anything. I enjoy my visits at the Washington office
