Dr. Mark Robert Ogle, MD

I don't know what he used to diagnose me, but whatever it is did not go off of the DSM 4 or 5. If he did use this criteria than he completely misunderstood me. When I recieved my diagnosis in the mail it was Major Depressive Disorder.. but on further digging of other medical records I found one where a Dr. Ogle had diagnosed me with Borderline personality disorder and depression... he is the only Dr. Ogle I have ever see and that is a different diagnosis than the one he made me aware of. He also prescribed me to an anti-depressant which was awful because I had already taken several different anti-depressant prior to that, prescribed by other doctors, that did absolutely nothing. It is about four years later now from all of that.. and come to find out this whole time I have actually had ADHD and I am hypersensitive not just with emotion but sounds. If I looked depressed it's probably because I was over trial and error drugs that didn't work and doctors that couldn't seem to get it… right. I thank God for the doctor who put me on Vyvanse. I was a hair away from losing my job, and flunking out of college despite all my efforts i was putting in everyday. My anxiety has also vanished. I don't know how this has blown past people for 23 years , but that is how long it has made my life horrible. I have never felt so cheated in my life. There is a serious lack of understanding about the importance of the core symptom of emotional dysregulation in ADHD and I am sick of doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists not knowing it...From what I read Dr. Ogle specializes in ADHD so how he missed this during my diagnosis and also the fact that he was so quick to diagnose me with a mood disorder is both puzzling and concerning. Seriously.. In a one hour session he had made up his mind with what I had. Ridiculous.

I am a new patient of Dr. Ogle, and quickly developed a strong opinion towards him. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't a huge fan of his personality. He came across a little stern and seemed to rush through the 45 minute appointment, asking questions rapidly and not making eye contact. But I will say you can tell he knows what he is talking about, and obviously has a lot of experience. I feel confident that he will find the right medication for me, and look forward to seeing him next week. He also gave me 30 days of free medication samples so I didn't have to pay a drug store for my prescription!

I started seeing Dr Ogle a few years ago and it has been a positive experience overall. Doctor Ogle's specialty is geriatric psychiatry and as a result he is very much in demand. To my knowledge he seldom is able to take new patients and appointments with him must be made well in advance. Dr. Ogle is very knowledgeable, and I have always found him to be a competent doctor. That being said, I must address his philosophy of medicine. Dr. Ogle believes fully in the benefits of pharmaceutical drugs. Pharmaceutical drugs are usually his first choice for a patient's symptoms, and he often emphasizes newer drugs that are being given a marketing push. In my experience, he often wants to increase dosage/frequency vs. tapering off usage/using other techniques to address medical issues. If you do not agree with this philosophy of medicine, do not like pharmaceutical drugs or prefer talk therapy, I suggest you look for a different doctor. It's not as if Dr. Ogle will let you write your own… prescription. He takes the time to discuss your treatment options, adjust them based on your reactions, and follow-up with you to ensure proper care. Dr. Ogle has always prescribed accurate drugs/correct doses for me, but my reason for seeing him was not very serious.Bottom Line: Doctor Ogle is knowledgeable, helpful doctor whose services are very in demand. He emphasizes "Better living through chemistry." If you want holistic or talk therapy treatment, you shouldn't waste yours or this doctors time.

Dr.Ogle misdiagnosed me as psychizophrenic. Even though I explained to him that I never hallucinated. My diagnosis was later changed by different doctors as delusional, and than further downgraded to anxiety disorder. Dr. Ogle was deceitful towards me. He told me, during my first session with him that he will help me taper off the melleril.He said he has a collaborative relationship with his patients, and that it is up to me whether I want to take the medication. That's what he said when I told him I want to get off antipsycotics. For a while, I was reducing it under his supervision. Than, one day, he said with a smug grin on his face, "How would you like to up the medication.?" I got mad. "I knew you'd respond this way."He said with a smug grin on his face." "I knew there would come a time when this reducing the medicine wouldn't work," he said. "You need the dopamine." What I don't understand is why he couldn't have been nice about it. Why couldn't he have said,"I'm sorry. I need to… up your medicine?" I was confused. My parents and my first ex-husband thought I was doing fine on the reduced dose. They disagreed with Dr. Ogle that the medicine needed to be upped. It seemed like Dr. Ogle had his mind made up about the medication being upped before he even saw me that day. When he said he'll let me get off the medicine gradually, he was putting on and act. He wanted to show me that I couldn't get off the medication. Why couldn't he have been honest with me during that first session? If he was upfront and told me he didn't believe in reducing my medicine, I would have known to go to a different doctor. He eventually leveled with me and said he will never let me reduce the zyprexa, which he got me on instead of melliril. I am now off all my zyprexa and am doing well on an antidepressant. I had to quit seeing Dr. Ogle to get to that point. I had to switch doctors. Dr. Ogle would not have ever let me reduced my zyprexa, let alone, let me get off it completely. I was traumatized by the pschizophrenia misdiagnosis. I argued with him till I was blue in the face. Finally, I said "We'll have to agree to disagree." I knew that I could never sway him. He agreed to disagree, but, didn't follow through. He repeatedly upset me by bringing up the pschizophrenia misdiagnosis. He knew it upset me, so why couldn't he have been quiet about it?I'm so relieved that it was downgraded to delusional, and than further to anxiety disorder. Being misdiagnosed as pscychophrenic was a nightmare. Once when I told Dr. Ogle that I have been working overtime on very little melliril, He humiliated me in front of my than-husband, by saying, "Most women are working on either a career or raising a family. You are working on neither." That was such a cheap shot. When I told him that my than-husband tried to kill himself, he said, "You knew he had suicidal tendencies. It's not as if he hid it from you." I'm glad I am successfully off all the zyprexa. If I were still seeing Dr. Ogle, chances are, it would have been injected into my arms. He said, "In a few years, zyprexa will be available for injections. I'd like you to do that." Why I stuck with Dr. Ogle for as long as four years, before giving up on him is beyond me. I should have quit seeing him after nine months.
