Dr. Mark S Vrahas, MD

He basically ruined my life here in Boston because he did not give me the proper antibiotics for my knee. I got a huge infection and the day after he operated on my terribly fractured knee, he moved to CA without notice! I liked him at first. My whole life has changed and after three surgeries, I still can't run or bend my knee. I asked for vancomycin and told him about previous mersa, and just didn't listen.

Dr. Vrahas was my orthopedic surgeon at Mass General Hospital where I went to him for a fractured patella. He performed the surgery and left the next day for California leaving me hanging. Never told me he was leaving and could not follow up on my care. I was very sick with Mersa and he just left. I was in the hospital for weeks with a bad infection from the emergency room because of him. I told him I am prone to mersa and needed vacomycn. He refused to give it to me despite my hospital records saying I needed it. He seemed to be caring but it was a lie. I can never run again because of him and he ruined a lot of my life. My knee is soooo messed up because of what he did. I hope you read this Dr. Vrahas because you left for CA before I could tell you how you ruined a lot of my life and the things that I loved to do.

Dr. Vrahas is remarkable. He is compassionate and honest. I was so fortunate to have him. Wish I could fly to Cali for his help again.

Operated on my crushed Tibia and a year later I am 100% back to normal with L bracket and 8 screws and a next to invisible scar! Awesome doctor.

I was recently referred to Dr Vrashas for a knee bone fracture surgery. The Orthopedic surgeon who referred me to Dr. Vrashas recommended surgery, but he said Dr. Vrashas is the best one for this kind of surgery. In fact I saw two orthopedic surgeons before I saw Dr. Vrshas. The first doctor wanted to operate on my knee right away. I did not agree and went to see a second opinion. The 2nd-opinion doctor also thinks I need surgry and referred me to Dr. Vrashas for surgery. Dr. Vrashas was very careful examining my knee and took a long time before he finally explained to me clearly that he thinks I am better without a surgery. He was very easy to talk to and very patient in answering all my questions. He really put my mind to an ease. I did have to wait for a little longer at my visit because we saw another patient on the stretcher just got in front of me, but the wait is well worth it.

Down to earth, up front, honest and caring. I will always be grateful for being sent his way.

I was stressed out when I got to my appointment because I was 45 min late after leaving at 7AM for an 8:45AM appointment, I live only 50 minutes away, but not in Boston traffic. I was pleasantly surprised when his staff took me right in, I thought for sure I would have to reschedule! My blood pressure and nerves were sky high due to not really ever driving in traffic like that along with the thought of not being seen when I so desperately need someone to figure out what is causing my lower back pain. I was in a serious car accident 3 years ago and about 4 months ago started having pain I never experienced before. After issues with my health insurance I had to find a Dr. in MA to take me and I was told to find an orthopedic trauma surgeon due to the severity of my previous accident. Upon his entrance to my room the Dr. shook my hand and asked why I was there, he read some things in my chart from previous doctors and then told me that I need to get over it this is my new normal. I… obviously was upset by this and tears started flowing down my face. He then told me I need so see a psychiatrist and asked about my pain management. I told him the first time I had taken my pain meds to full prescription was the weekend that just passed due to over exertion and too much time in the car. He then proceeded to tell me I am addicted to my pain pills and that he needed to wean me off of them. This man has only spoken to me for 4 minutes face to face and has NO IDEA the kind of person that I am but I felt like he treated me like I was there to get drugs. If I wanted to be on drugs, I didn't need to wait 3 years post accident to try to get them. I am seriously hurting and need answers but he is more concerned with getting me off my pain medication than actually trying to solve my problem. He is an arrogant jerk. Find a different doctor!
