Dr. Mark William Cohen, MD

Mark Cohen was my doctor from the time I was an older kid all the way up through my teenage years. During those ages, I felt I had no agency in which doctor I saw, but now that I am older looking back, I wish I knew I could have switched doctors, because I certainly would have! My time with him over the years, I always found him condescending, dismissive, and made me feel uncomfortable or ashamed. He made numerous clinical errors, especially when it came to prescriptions and misinterpreting lab results. He never made me feel at ease, and as a child I never knew how to express I was uncomfortable with parts of the exam. In my teenage years, he was cold and condescending. He was a major reason I stopped going to the doctor in general for many years after - years when it would’ve been important. Now that I am older, I would caution against seeing him for pediatrics.

He was our pediatrician for our first daughter. He was recommended by emerson hospital. I thought it was funny, we take the emerson hospital class and they stress how in the past they recommended cleaning the umbilical cord with alcohol but now they don't want you to do anything (just leave it alone). First appointment with doctor cohen, he stressed how we needed to make sure we used alcohol to make sure the umbilical cord clean :). I kinda remember her told my wife something about breastfeeding that made the lactation consultant at emerson really annoyed. Overall he seemed mostly ok but the office workers seemed kinda jerky like they thought they were better than the patients because they worked for a doctor. Ultimately we switched because he was a little bit too far for us and the office staff wasn't too nice.
