Dr. Marnin Eli Fischbach, MD

He's been my doctor for over a year now and I have had nothing but positive interactions. He does not coddle and he doesn't try to medicate away all my problems, if the answer could be a behavioral change he doesn't hesitate to suggest it. I have a family history of addiction, and a personal battle with my weight, and he is always conscious of that when considering what medications to prescribe. Ultimately, I feel like he looks at me as a whole individual when considering treatment and that makes me feel valued as a patient.

I've been working with Dr. Fischbach for a year now. I feel heard with Dr. Fischbach, and not only that, it's a collaborative effort as far as treatment goes. He is truly a phone call or text away. No office to contend with, or third party scheduling. Dr. Fischbach singularly operates and keeps things simple. I appreciate him very much and have referred several friends and family to him who also echo this experience.

Dr. Fischbach is honestly the worst doctor I have ever seen from any specialty. It is obvious that all he cares about is money, and he runs his practice in a way that cheats patients. He asks you to pay in full in cash or check at the beginning of the appt, something I've never seen before. In addition to charging you in full in cash, he ALSO runs your insurance, so you are billed twice and he gets paid twice. He used to work for Highmark (BCBS health insurance company), so he knows he is cheating patients by doing this. The only way for me to get refunded (for the overcharge) was to confront him about this because he started ignored all my messages. The care he provides is also terrible. He does not listen to your concerns and instead says that you as the patient are not listening. He didn't listen to me when I told him my medication stopped working and insisted that "medications don't stop working." After 2 appointments with him (and being stolen from twice) I stopped seeing him.

My life has changed for the better since working with Dr. Fischbach for my mental health. In the past people have dismissed me but he actually listens to what I’m saying and explains what’s going on. For the first time I was told a diagnosis and what it meant for me and my life and walked through every step of my treatment/during our talk sessions. It makes me feel more secure instead of a provider just throwing pills at me and hoping for the best. He is a one man shop though, which I like a lot. He is the dr, nurse, and receptionist. This makes it very easy to reach him and get direct answers. I can call and get to him or if he’s busy he will call me back immediately when he’s free. During COVID he adapted very well and did secure online video visits. I would highly recommend seeing him.

Initially, I thought Dr. Fischbach was great. It seemed like he was listening to everything I was saying and genuinely wanted to help me. However, it quickly became clear that all he actually cared about was money. He recorded my insurance number incorrectly and, despite numerous attempts to correct him, he continued to bill to that number and tell me I wasn't covered. He refused to speak to my insurance company about this, and it took months to get it resolved. After a few weeks, he refused to keep treating me. He refused to listen to the idea that he might be wrong. I was worse off than when I started seeing him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Fischbach since moving to the Pittsburgh area three years ago. I am very satisfied with my care and have never considered changing doctors. Dr. Fischbach is also the only Psychiatrist I have seen in the prior ten years who continues to accept major insurance. With such high demand for their services, many psychiatrists prefer to set their own rates with patients and receive full payment at the time of service, without ever having to file a claim with insurance. It's nice to see someone in this specialty willing to deal with the complication (and lower negotiated rates) of insurers and help keep psychiatric care affordable for their patients.

I've been seeing Dr. Fischbach for over 3 years, and I am very lucky to have found him. He listens and cares about any concerns you have. Finding a psychiatrist in Pittsburgh was NOT easy - so I feel lucky to have found him.
