Dr. Martin R. Gallo, MD

I had a disappointing experience with Dr. Martin Gallo. I was prescribed estrogen alone despite having a uterus, without clear discussion about the need for progesterone for endometrial protection. After being postmenopausal for 10 years, I experienced unexpected bleeding, which was concerning and, based on a second opinion, may have been related to not having appropriate progesterone support. Given my history of a PFO and concerns about clot risk, I was also hoping for guidance on safer options such as transdermal estrogen, but this was not clearly addressed. After doing my own research, I asked about adding progesterone and switching to a transdermal option. Although this was initially discouraged, it was eventually prescribed at my request. When I raised questions, I did not feel my concerns were fully acknowledged. It was also difficult to obtain a timely follow-up appointment and recommended imaging, which added to my concern. I later sought a second opinion and was advised a… more current, evidence-based approach, including transdermal estrogen with micronized progesterone and appropriate evaluation. I was also told my understanding and approach to my medications were appropriate. I personally will not return and would recommend seeking a provider who specializes in menopause management and follows current treatment guidelines.

Dr Gallo is awesome. He has a Great bed side manor. He is straight and to the point. He is very caring and I would highly recommend him.

I find going to the doctor so stressful, especially at GYN. Finding Dr. Gallo was a miracle. He is honest, kind, patient and a great listener. He always informs you about medication and asks your opinion rather than solely handing it over; he wants to make sure you are comfortable with your care. I honestly look forward to appointments with him because I know I will feel welcome and not judged.

Dr. Gallo takes the time to listen and respond to all your questions and concerns. Very professional explaining best course of treatment and any recommendations. Very nice and pleasant doctor.

Dr. Gallo is the best doctor I have ever been to. Any procedure or check he needs to do is absolutely painless. I feel that he has my best interests in mind and is extremely knowledgeable. Some may view him as no nonsense but I find him to be extremely caring. I have seen all other doctors in the practice throughout my pregnancy and loved them all.

Dr Gallo has a great bedside manner. He takes the time to talk and explain everything thoroughly.

I honestly think he's a great doctor. He was able to detect my unborn baby's dilated kidneys and Dr. Gallo assured me there was nothing to worry about. After delivering my baby, I faced complications and he came to check in on me two days later. Totally appreciated that. the only concern I had was that I made a request to him to stay an extra day because my baby had to stay an extra day and my insurance would not cover my baby's stay. I would end up paying It from my own pocket and it's money I don't have.

I had seen a gynecologist with problems with polycystic ovaries and perimenopause. Dr. Gallo listened, was able to diagnose the problem, was able to give me a treatment that helped. The other doctor basically treated me like I was a crazed lunatic. Being able to diagnose a problem based on symptoms is a valuable skill that most doctors seem to have lost.

My wife was pregnant with our first child she decided to go to Dr. Gallo because he was her doctor when she was younger. Everything went well throughout the pregnancy until a decision had to be made when to induce because our baby was almost two weeks late. We met with Dr. Gallo on a Friday and requested that he check the amniotic fluid (based on the suggestion from a friend who is an OBGYN) to ensure that it wasn't low and there wasn't any fetal stress. It was clear that he didn't want to want to do the procedure and assured us that his experience of "delivering 3,000 babies" (a quote that he used more than once) told him that it wasn't necessary. The decision was made to come in Sunday evening and induce. We arrived to the hospital Sunday and the heart monitor was put on my wife and before they began the induction, the heart rate of our baby was fluctuating significantly and then they couldnt find it for over 5 minutes which left the nurses very frantic. They immediately gave my… wife oxygen and got in touch with the on-call doctor. When he arrived we made the decision to do a c-section. When our baby was out, the on-call doctor mentioned that he was very surprised that there was so little amniotic fluid. Fortunately in the end, we have a healthy baby boy. However, any stress that he felt in the few days before the birth probably could have been avoided if only Dr. Gallo would have put his ego aside and conducted a simple procedure. Bottom line, please make sure you meet as many doctors as possible and definitely think twice about choosing Dr. Gallo.
