Dr. Michael Arthur Boxer, MD

Told me he had to charge me for a prescription because insurance doesn't cover it. Well, guess what, when I saw my explanation of benefits from my insurance company, it WAS paid for. When you call & explain you want a refund, you'll probably have better luck getting it from the IRS. Avoid!!!

Very satisfied

In all my years of needing eye glasses I have been to many Eye Doctors and never been charged for a eye glass prescription after an eye exam but that is what Dr. Boxer's practice is. I did not pay for a prescription for glasses and I never went back to him again. During the eye examination, conducted by another part-time employees, the employee spent 15-20 changing a light bulb in the equipment(had to find a light bulb first, etc.), and then Dr. Boxer finished off the exam by speaking to me about the exam, the reason he charges for eye glass prescriptions(insurance doen't cover the cost of his exam), and any other number of other things in a rude and surly manner. I originally went to Dr. Boxer for a updated contact lenses prescription as my primary care eye physcian had retired and her associated did not do contact lenses, by choice. On my first visit to Dr. Boxer I paid Dr. Boxer $150. for the eye exam and a prescription for contacts which I would never do again as my primary eye… care physcian, who no longer does contacts, is giving me the exam and a prescription for free with my regular insurance covered eye examination. Apparently, some physicians can still cover the cost of their office operations under the patient's insurance plan. This site requires that I give the doctor between 1 and 4 stars or I cannot submit this review. i am checking 1 star but it should be minus 4 stars.

had catarac surgury having problems

The office has terribel admin systems. Even thought I made an appointment, I waited 45mins. Even I spent another 30mins to see Dr. Michael Boxer after staffs started exam all condition.More worse, they stole my information. I visite the office 2 year ago. But they claim money to my medical insurance company last year. I didnot visit the office last year. But they used my medical information to get claim from insurance company. I complained my insurance company. And then the doctor office send me a letter to request payment. I contacted the office and explained what happened. They just said me to call back later after investigation. couple of day later they exucesed. The reason is that they have two paitients who has same name. So they confused. They did not appologize. But it is impossible. My name is very unique name in the world. Even they never checked birth day or ss#. What a irresponsible people. If you go, you can give them chances to use your medical information. Be careful!

Dr. Boxer was great to my mom before and after her eye surgery. With the exception of Jessica, his front office staff is horrible. Rude, nasty and inconsiderate woman. There is an older Indian woman who works for him , beware of asking her any questions because she will only answer you with her nasty tone and attitude. I

Went to Dr. Boxer for treatment of a chalazion, after a very upsetting failed treatment by another opthalmologist. Had two appointments with him. I felt like I was being interrogated about following his instructions. He was insulting, saying that he feels I think too much about myself when I tried to explain what I was feeling. Told my husband that he felt I was depressed, and mentioned several times that I needed to "reset my gyro". Very lacking in empathy, remarking that "it doesn't hurt me". He may be very good at what he does, but his "bedside manner" is very aggressive, and I definitely would not recommend him. He also needs to do something about his breath.
