Dr. Michael N Steinbook, MD

1 star is way too many. Our experience with Dr. Steinbook has been deeply distressing and traumatic. During what was supposed to be a routine colonoscopy, my mother's colon was perforated — a serious and life-threatening complication. Instead of taking responsibility or offering immediate help, Dr. Steinbook denied any involvement in the injury and refused to provide the necessary care or guidance afterward, remaining "unreachable" since the incident on 1/21/26. She had emergency bowel resection in the middle of the night and her outcome remains uncertain. This lack of accountability and compassion is unacceptable for someone entrusted with patients’ health and safety. The disregard shown for my mother's wellbeing has caused immense physical pain, emotional distress, and lasting mistrust in the medical system. A doctor’s duty is to care for their patients, especially when complications arise. In this case, Dr. Steinbook demonstrated the opposite — negligence, denial, and a complete… absence of empathy. I would strongly caution anyone considering treatment from this physician.

Steinbrook is a horrible doctor Does not care for the patient or their family.

Dr. Steinbook treated my husband for a number of years. Every appointment he would rush him out the door. This past year my husband's UC flared to the point where he has multiple trips to the ER in an ambulance (and my husband is not the type to go unless he feels like there is no other option). 6 months of a flare up, the loss of 20 lbs, and excruciating pain was not enough to make Dr. Steinbook give my husband an exam. He would only ever say "just keep taking the medicine and wait it out." He never considered changing medication. By the third ER visit, Dr. Steinbook said the only option for my husband was surgery. When we saw a surgeon, the surgeon said that my husband was definitely not a candidate for surgery. When we found another doctor- the new doctor could not believe that Steinbook never bother to test my husband for C-Diff which is common after several antibiotic treatments. Turns out what had my husband basically bedridden for two months was a bacterial infection that… Steinbook never bothered to check for and Steinbook was going to sign my husband up to have his colon removed. This man does not car about his patients. I can't tell you the number of times I called his office when my husband was so sick it scared me and all he ever said was "well wait on the medicine." Changing doctors saved my husbands life. Let me help you by advising you do not start to see Dr. Steinbook. If you have gastro issues and have the ability- the doctors at Emory are amazing!

By far the best stomach doctor in the Columbus, Georgia and surrounding area. He is very attentive to his patients, treats them with the utmost care and concern, and goes above and beyond to make sure they are taken care of.

Dr. Steinbook was my late husband's doctor. Michael had liver disease, and a host of other horrible problems, but Dr. Steinbook never gave up on him, and always tried to be encouraging even when giving us really bad news. I miss Dr. Steinbook's honesty, and professionalism, and just him as a person. I would HIGHLY recommend him for anyone with GI issues. I plan a visit for myself as soon as the timing is right.

Dr. Steinbook is mine and my husband's doctor. We both really like everything about him and his staff. He is very knowlegeable and professional but most of all he is caring. He has a great personality - a sense of humor - which is a plus as it makes him very approachable and easy to talk to about anything. He knows his stuff and unlike a lot of doctors who are good, he is not arrogant; he's really down to earth. I would recommend him highly. He is the total package!

Very caring, attentive and easy to talk to. I trust him completely & he's very through when diagnosing a problem. Highly recommend.
